The cloud gaming on game pass is a game changer for me. I didn’t even realize I could do it. But being able to play a game without an install and being able to try something new and waste 30 mins of downtime is pretty fun.

Does Sony have something like that on PS5?

I tried XCloud on my phone and it runs like absolute dogshit for me. I cannot possibly imagine gaming this way by choice. Internet infrastructure is going to have to get way better before we are at 1:1 with native download for image quality, frames, input lag, etc.

Sony has PS Now but as others have said, not everything on it is downloadable. All of the PS2 and PS4 games can be downloaded but the PS3 titles are streaming only. I've tried it and...no thank you! Im just not a believer in game streaming at this point in time.

I've seen a couple recently. I'm just a little bit from pulling the trigger. I question whether an X is worth it without upgrading my TV though.

If your still sitting at a 1080p screen then I see your point. The X is just a dang fine machine. It’s taking away the sting of the current GPU climate. Sad that the 4000 series is basically going to go the same way.

Yep still at 1080. I might consider an X if one is available when I'm ready to buy. But I won't put to much effort into hunting one down. I have an 8 year old, so even if I need to upgrade console mid gen, I can just hand the S down to her.

I'll just get a USB external hard drive and move games back and forth to mitigate the storage on the S. I'm doing that on the PS4 now anyway.

A friend of mine said this yesterday, so I can't take credit for it but it cracked me up..

"Well, it's good that Microsoft bought Activision so now all their sh_tty games will be corralled onto one platform."

(incidentally, I don't agree but I thought it was funny nonetheless).

All I can tell you, is that you are all going to need the fat pipe before this is over. Your games won't go with it.
I just got a fiber connection to my house. Fiber into the premises. I'm 1GB down and 1GB up. Going to be setting up a NAS in the near future to host my own cloud and be able to stream my own content.

Is fiber worth making the change from cable? I've had xfinity and I've been happy with the service for the past 11 years. Only had to have someone come out to the house once and they replaced the cable coming to the house.

But I'm about to move and found out AT&T has fiber service to the new address. I'm not a live streamer. Just like to have something fast and reliable for xbox and Netflix/ect.

Mine is hella worth it. $67/month with first 3 months free.

Fiber is 1000% worth it. Cable is a shared meter connection and can be bogged down way more frequently than fiber due to its nature. That’s why some days your internet is faster than others. I tested this when I had cable (Comcast) and found it to be true. My data speeds over the course of a month were all over the place. Fiber is technically shared, but nowhere near as bad as cable. I’m always getting 1 Gbps up and down. I say all of that to say this: for faster speeds (> 200 Mbps) go with fiber, for slower speeds (< 100 Mbps) get whatever is cheapest. For an understanding what is needed speed-wise a 4k stream needs at least 25 Mbps data connection.

Can you still connect an xbox for example directly to the modem/router via cable? Or is everything run wifi? IIRC with AT&T fiber you have to use their modem/router combo, although you can set up a separate router.

I have everything setup through Wi-Fi due to where I have the modem/router. But, for AT&T you have to use their fiber modem. If you have a wireless AP (or other things) you want to use then just turn off the wireless on the AT&T modem and use your wireless AP.

I use wireless for most of my devices (roku's, phones). I plug my laptop and my PS4 directly into the fiber modem/router/switch.

FYI, Phil Spencer confirmed today that COD will remain on PlayStation. No word on the other Activision/Blizzard IP's.

"Had good calls this week with leaders at Sony. I confirmed our intent to honor all existing agreements upon acquisition of Activision Blizzard and our desire to keep Call of Duty on PlayStation. Sony is an important part of our industry, and we value our relationship."

Probably the right call for Xbox. COD sells a ton of copies on PS. Taking it exclusive would probably lose them money and definitely erode the player base

Sony needs to respond though. They need to look at some acquisition, or just bite the bullet and start having a conversion with Microsoft about bringing Gamepass to Playstation.

He said they would keep it on Playstation but.......it may require Gamepass to be on Playstation.
No I think itll be more like they frame it as "Pay 70.00 to play COD day one on PS5 or play it for free day one on Game Pass." So whether gamers buy the game outright on PS5 or sign up to play on Game Pass, its a win/win for MS (and gamers).

It’s definitely a win/win either way it plays out.

“Intent” and “existing agreements” and “desire”. He said the same thing during the Bethesda acquisition.
This is different. Some industry analysts are saying that MS would have a very difficult time even getting the acquisition approved by regulators if they tried to keep COD off of competing platforms. Of course MS will frame it as if they're doing it out of the kindness of their hearts, but they may have no choice in the matter.

The most exciting news Ive heard regarding this though is its being reported that MS is considering de-annualizing COD. That IMO is the best thing that could happen to the series, as I think the franchise has been stale for years. I personally have not bought a COD game since Black Ops 2. I would love it if they allowed Activision to take their time to work on a larger, more robust single player campaign to go along with the multiplayer and just allow Warzone to exist in the years between. Now if only somebody could convince EA to do the same with Fifa and Madden!

Sounds good. I have a few things that run wireless, but I like my pc and xbox to be wired directly to a modem/router.

There is also talk now that they are probably gonna stop making COD a yearly release and go to every 2 to 3 year window like Battlefield. Oh .....I would watch also them reviving the Guitar Hero series.

They need to. CoD has gotten so horrible. I also hope they stop re-releasing maps from years ago and try to use them as a selling point. Come up with something good and new for a change. I'm pretty sure they've been promoting Shipment for about 3 years now. That map sucks, time to move on.
