Microsoft 11 is a privacy nightmare. They clearly see a lot of value in it

correct. welcome to the age of computing. I have been very clever at avoiding it. It is admittedly getting difficult. Pretty sure that vacuume robot has seen me naked.

I still have an xbox 360 in my office with all the games. It never red ringed for me. I know it did for a lot of folks tho.

Here’s a thought. Sony is going to lose a lot of revenue from not having Bethesda games and now, potentially, Activision games. As I posted earlier, I don’t see Sony including first party day one releases as part of their subscription service, as that would likely cost them even more money. Any chance Game Pass (with only Microsoft first party games) comes to PlayStation? Before today I’d laugh at the thought. But Sony would keep players in their ecosystem and would earn a lot of revenue from it. I still don’t think it happens but it’s an interesting concept to consider.

The market certainly seems to see this purchase as a blow to Sony. Their stock is down 7% today.

Just so you're not confused, edge is just micro's way of getting you on their cloud, which is just a server they own, which is just a computer on their premises that they control.

I have a TV in my office with my 360, PS3, Wii, and Wii U hooked up. I try to fire them all up every 1-2 weeks just to make sure they still work.

My original 360 did RROD after about a year of use. I remember by the time mine did you could probably much just tell Microsoft it happened and they'd send you a replacement. They sent me a refurbed original but I ended up trading it in and got credit towards an Xbox 360 Slim. That's the one I still have. My original Wii also died after about 6 months and had to be replaced. But my PS3 is an original "fat" PS3 with PS2 backwards compatiblity that I got in January 2007 still works fine to this day.

They may want to consider the Audible model where you're given a credit each month (cost $14.95) good for any title regardless of price, and with the average cost of an audiobook being $25-30, plenty in the $50-60 range, and some more than $80, you feel right off the bat that you're getting an unbelievable deal. But then you add 100-200 "free" titles to your account and now you can't afford to cancel your membership because you lose access to everything besides your paid titles.

With 4 generations of past gen titles, plus whatever indie titles they want to include, they will have substantial "free" content. After a year or so they will start seeing the payoff, because most people don't have a $69.99 game they have to have every single month. I would say for most people it's 4-5 times a year. People may hoard credits, but for the most part they will spend them on significantly less expensive games. And the price, high or low, won't even matter to people because they're "all the same price" anyway. They will get what they want, not what they think is the best value. I'm not going to buy John Adams because it's a $70 book and I think that best justifies my membership, I'm going to keep buying 20 year old Stephen King novels because that's what I want to listen to.

I don't know exactly what Audible is worth, but I know that they are worth more than their two closest competitors combined, so something about their model is working. Just a thought.

Interesting idea. I’m not familiar with the audible model. They charge $15 a month then give you $15 credit a month?

They charge $15 and give you one credit each month that is good for any book at all, regardless of price. So you can have that $70 book for only one credit. And then all of the included titles you want on top of that.

I could get behind that.

They do. But Sony is starting to p*ss me off. I might be looking for an XBox since I can't find a PS5 in the whole country that is for sale at a decent price lol
At this point I plan on buying a Series S. The supply issues and all the gamepass stuff have pretty much convinced me. Unless something major changes in the next few months, I'll be changing platforms.

The cloud gaming on game pass is a game changer for me. I didn’t even realize I could do it. But being able to play a game without an install and being able to try something new and waste 30 mins of downtime is pretty fun.

Does Sony have something like that on PS5?

PS Now actually did it first. Gamepass' big advantage is that you can download everything, where PS Now has a lots of stuff that's streaming only.

Best Buy has been having a lot of XSX drops recently. Good chance you can snatch one of them up if you are following someone who tells you when a drop is incoming.

I've seen a couple recently. I'm just a little bit from pulling the trigger. I question whether an X is worth it without upgrading my TV though.
