Get him a PS4 and he will get a good 8-10 years use out of it. Can't say the same for the last gens...

This. You may save money for now, but this time next year he may be wanting a ps4/x1 because the lack of game selections. Personally if I was buying for a 10 year old I'd go ahead and jump on that x1 bundle for $329 or the ps4 bundle with littlebigplanet 3 and lego batman3 for $399 and you want have to worry about buying another gaming system for many many christmas'.

Ok guys. Thanks for all your help.

I have decided to go with the PS4 or Xbox1.
It is newer technology, will cost more upfront but will save in the long run.

The 4 cost $120 more than the Xbox after subtracting the Target gift card, $399 vs $279. The PS4 bundle at Toys R Us or HH Gregg has 2 kid games, the Xbox has 2 mature rated games.

Is the PS 4 bundle worth $120 more than the Xbox One?

If I go with the ps4 Walmart has just the console for $399 with a $50 gift card which puts it at $349.

From what I have read, I am leaning towards a ps4. I know very little about these games, the One may be the better option. I do thank each of you for your opinions.

Which should I go with?

Hooray for almost pickin my suggestion. Im stickin to sayin you should get the ps4 bundle with littlebigplanet 3 and lego batman 3. Toys r us $399. If you get the one with a gift card you do save $50 but your gonna have to turn right around and spend that on buying a game

If you're buying it for him for strictly gaming, id go with the ps4. Xbox one Is a good gaming system but its big pulling point is its media ability.

Go with the 3 or 360. If this is his first go around with either system all the games available will be new to him. There are hundreds, older and newer, that he has never seen.

Your grandson would probably enjoy the ps4 with the games that suit his age more.

Great choice. The look on his face will be priceless when he opens that up for Christmas. It'll be worth the money.

Question:

I have an Xbox 360 and we had the Xbox live family gold plan for several years. We let it expire last January because we were not using it. My son is asking me ti start it up again and I've discovered the family plan is no longer available. Do I now have to purchase a separate account for each member of my family? This would be $60 × 4 or $240 /year compared to $99 / year before. If we have to pay $240 we're out.

Xbox.com Forums

Yes for the 360. No for the Xbox One.

Do you really have four people in your home who need to play online? Can't you just share one account since you only have one system?

Also, it's typically not hard to find deals for discounted Gold memberships.

Not really just my son and myself. My daughter used to play too but she's on campus now. She did play under my account though as she has an Xbox at her apartment and she downloaded her profile to that machine.

Two problems with sharing an account.

1. We play together at the same time on Xbox live. Primarily COD.

2. He is a lot better than I and he doesn't want me messing up his stats.

I think it's rediculous for Xbox to do this. Foe the cost of a couple of years, I could move to the PS4 which I may do.

I ordered the PS4 Batman package. I am seeing all kinds of accessories, charging station, extra controller, head phones, PS card, etc

What accessories are needed?

If its a bundle being sold by a retailer it will have everything you need
