Xbox One

I believe there's a "free" version of KI you can try out. I think it gives you one character to play as.

I love the game. I think it's really well done and it certainly takes me back to my early 20's playing the original in the arcade.

I love the idea of fighting games, but I have never been able to do what it takes to master the combos needed to be successful in them. I sucked at them in the arcades in the 90s, I sucked at them on my Sega Genesis, PlayStation, and Xbox. My little brother kicks my ass in MvC, Tekken, MK, you name it. Combos me into the atmosphere. I'll just stick to PvP in Dark Souls. And I'll continue to hype Dark Souls in every thread I post in :)

are there any killer apps for xbone yet?

I want an xbone but right now I have a serious backlog of many of the best 360 games available.

Is there a game that is so amazing that I just have to experience it and/or its online play like right now?

Not all are new IPs or exclusive to the One, but there are some great games on the One right now. The first year was slow for the current generation, but they're both starting to hit full speed pretty quick.

Forza 5 and Horizon 2 if you like racers

Killer Instinct and MKX if you like fighters

Destiny if you like monotonous FPS MMO wannabes

BF4, Titanfall, CoD AW, Far Cry 4, and Hardline round out the more popular FPS

Ori and the Blind Forest, Shovel Night, 1001 Spikes if you like hard as nails old school games from the 80s and 90s

Dying Light, State of Decay, Telltale Walking Dead if you like zombies

Dark Souls 2, Dragon Age Inquisition, Witcher 3 (May), Final Fantasy Type-0 if you like RPGs

Elder Scrolls Online (June), Neverwinter if you like MMORPGs

Batman (June, I think), GTA5, or Shadows of Mordor if you like action games

Outlast, Resident Evil HD Remaster, Resident Evil Revelations 2, Evil Within if you like survival horror (or what used to be survival horror)

FIFA, Madden, NBA, NHL, Rugby, RBI Baseball if you like sports

I'm sure I'm leaving several out, but the One and PS4 are accumulating a nice library so far

Arkham Knight looks absolutely amazing. I will definitely be picking that up.

New controller design is coming. Bascally MS is adding a 3.5 audio port to the controller. Thank GOD! I did NOT want to have to buy that stupid adapter just to make my headphones work!

Also, I don't typically go for themed controllers but this looks pretty bad ass!

Yeah I like that one, typically hate the designed controllers.

I hate XBox One. It's roughly half as good as the 360.

A lot of times I actually feel the same. The graphics are better, but so many things are just worse or more complex than on 360. I absolutely HATE that you can't access your friends list without leaving the game you're playing. Who the eff thought that was a good idea? It also sucks that we're closing in on two years from launch and there still isn't a decent option for connecting a bluetooth headset for game chat.

It's the same way with the PS4 (minimizing your game to access friends list)

If you want to access your friends list, achievements, etc, just double tap your Home button, and that will give you option to "Snap an app" (press up on your controller) and there will be your friends, achievements, party, messages, and game DVR without minimizing your game.

As for the Bluetooth headset, I don't know, man. I just use my PS4's little earbud thing it came with on my One and PS4.

I'll be playing and just lose all sound. That or my controller will just stop working. Only way I've found to fix it is a hard reset. My charge kit won't allow me to play and charge if it's connected to the USB port on the One, works fine when plugged in to th TV port however.

Always seems to be an issue when I'm playing with my clan on CoD, party chat is nearly broken.

I have only one friend with a PS4, only thing keeping me from switching.

The original "blades" of the 360 dashboard were eventually evolved to the more user friendly interface that many of us are accustomed to. From what I understand, they're going to tweak the UI of the One as well. It is already much better than it was at launch, in my opinion.

Also, every time they release an update to the UI, they include a video explaining all of the new functions on the One's home screen, if you're ever wondering what the monthly updates do.

Hope that helps!

My Astro a40's have about half the capacity they had on the 360, sound quality isn't nearly as good. Several friends of mine with Astro's have said the same thing.

That's strange. I've never experienced any issues concerning sound loss or controller functionality. Have you updated your controller recently?

I don't use charge kits though, so that may have something to do with it. I converted to rechargeable batteries 5 years ago. I just keep a couple charged and ready to go for when my others die.

My A50s were a pain to calibrate for the One because of their stupid proprietary sound port. Once the new controller comes out, I'll be the first in line to get one. I understand that frustration.

Hopefully they'll keep working on the UI, because as it stands now it's complete crap. IMO it's still inexcusable that in 2015, almost two years on from launch, the only option for game chat is the ****ty wired headset that comes with the console. I'd happily pay for a wireless option if they made one.

For me personally, I just like the PS4 UI so much more than the X1's. I just like the simplicity of the cross media bar and I seem to be able to get to things faster. Plus everything feels much snappier, faster & more responsive. It kind of reminds me of the early days of the Apple iPhone UI compared to Android. Hopefully when MS finally releases the new Windows 10 UI it will improve things.

You can use several other headsets that offer much better chat quality than the included headset. I used my Turtlebeach X41s from my 360 before picking uo Astros. Provided you have to use the adapter to get chat capabilities, but that is only until the new controller releases. No Bluetooth option though, but I never cared for non-surround sound headsets with the exception of occasionally using the PS4 earbud to give my neck a rest from the heavy headsets out these days.

Also, did that tip remedy your issue with pulling up your friends list without minimizing your or closing your game?

I like the PS4 store to the One's store. It is so much more responsive than what it was on the PS3. I do prefer the One's stat tracking competition with friends and the ability to pin favorite games, apps, movies, or TV shows to the home screen for ease of access. The PS4 has the ability to restart the console and a few other more easily accessed functions that hopefully Microsoft will implement into their UI.

Haven't tried it yet, but I'm sure it works.

I don't want a full on wireless headset with surround sound. I've got a surround sound system in my living room and would just like a wireless earbud I could use for the game chat. Maybe with the new controller that you can plug a regular adapter into, somebody will make one.

That would be cool for those of you with surround sound set up in your living rooms.

That is a nice feature. PS4's UI is set up where it automatically detects your top 10 most played games and certain apps like Spotify, PS Now, etc. However where it falls short is that apps like Netflix, HBO GO, Hulu, etc are not pulled into that top 10. No matter what, you have to enter the drop down icon first before you can access those. It's not a huge deal but it just doesn't make sense from a design standpoint.

I noticed that! I wasn't sure if that was just me or what. I'm sure they'll fix that.
