Xbox One

Depends on how much you love Xbox exclusives. The PS4 is more powerful, cheaper, and should have the superior multi-platform games this time. That said are you a big Halo fan? Do you care that Bungie is no longer making Halo (I do because Halo 4 sucked without them)? What about Gears of War without Epic? I guess Titan Fall, but that is on PC too (and I bet on PS4 for the next one given the sales numbers so far)? That said outside of Naughty Dog games Sony exclusives are nothing to write home about either. Do you want to play the next Uncharted or Last of Us? Where did you friends go? Are they on XBL or PSN? Last generation 90% of my friends were on 360, so I played mostly 360. Now over half are on PS4 so far. Does that matter to you?

If you are a true gamer you should already know the answer this.
I already own a ps4 and honestly not worth the money YET. my brother owns a xbox one and he says its a great concept they had its just not executed well

I love my PS4 but I don't think either one is worth it yet. Just because there are not enough games. Ps4 is more powerful but I really like what Xbox one is trying to do as a whole. I will get one eventually. It's all about what your friends are getting IMO. It's better to have people to play with online if you enjoy that.

Disagree! It's all about which system has the best library of games for you IMO. Something about letting what your friends own influence your buying decision doesn't sit well with me. Buy what you like and influence you're friends to join YOU. Besides that, you can build a friends list in a very short amount of time.

I have made plenty of friends on PS4 but IMO its better to play with people I already know.

Neither is worth the money right now. The best value right now is the PS3 with PS+. I purchased 2 PS4s (one for me and another for my son), and still play my PS3 a lot (I gave up on 360 after another red ring). Mainly it is due to the Last of Us DLC and games like Bioshock being free. Also I have one hell of a 'to be played' shelf for it.

Unless you are addicted to being an early adopter (I am) or a hardcore Infamous fan, don't buy either until the end of the year or next year.

I hope in the long run both will be worth the money. Good chance I will not get a Xbox One until they release a slim version (I find the current version ungodly big and it looks like a TIVO box). Still considering it is $100 more, it needs exclusives to move me. I can play all other games on the more powerful PS4. The upcoming game from the Alan Wake studio is the only game to tempt me so far. MS needs a exclusive game that is as good as Uncharted 2 or Last of Us to get my money. Shame what happen with Halo, but the good news is Bungie is now multi-platform (can't wait for Destiny).

Very true but I wouldn't let that be the determining factor on a 400-500.00 investment.

I know you've said that online gaming isn't necessarily your biggest priority, but for a huge percentage of people it is. I understand that you're technically still playing with other people when you play with strangers online, but it's impossible to beat playing with an actual group of people you know. Owning a system and not having any other friends to play it with seems pretty pointless to me.

This. 95% of my gaming is online multiplayer, I'm going to get what everyone else gets, especially when the systems aren't particularly different gaming wise.

The online multiplayer didn't determine what console I got first last generation (the 360 just came out first), but the fact all my friends were on XBL kept me fixing and replacing my 360 after many red rings. Finally I gave up and stayed with the PS3 (I got a slim to play Uncharted 2). It was hard at first, but I got use to it.

Fast forward this generation almost all my friends went PS4 (only one went XBox One first). So far multiplayer hasn't been that important because there are no shooters I care about (CoD is finally dead to me). That said once Destiny comes out it will be a different story.

Still I think you are weighing multiplayer too much. You should also weigh cost, value (XBL vs PS+), exclusives (you want Halo or Uncharted for example), and power. To think someone didn't play Last of Us just because they only cared about the multiplayer on XBL makes me go

Smart thing to do is discuss with your friends before anyone buys a console and decide if it is that important to you. Last June I let my friends know that I planned to preorder the PS4, and what were their thoughts.

Also in 3 years or so I wonder how much difference we will see in the consoles power wise. Will coders find ways to get more out of the One to make it seem as powerful as the PS4? Or will the PS4 just pull away when teams like Naught Dog really learn to push the power. Just look at Last of Us at the end of the PS3 cycle vs 360 games.

I agree with everything you just said.

Ideally, the best thing to do would be to own both platforms and I may still do that. Down the road when the X1 price drops and MS shows a more compelling reason to have Kinect, I may bite. I am interested in their game "Quantum Break." It looks very compelling to me.

I like online gaming. I'm just not one of these hard core military shooter only gamers. I prefer to have a more balanced library of games. Right now my 2 most played games on PS4 are Blacklight Retribution (sci fi shooter) and FF14 Online Beta. None of my real friends are playing these but it doesn't diminish my enjoyment of them.

Online gaming has always been the determining factor in what console I decided to go with. Take out military shooters, sports (outside of the show) was way better on the 360 last gen and that's where I play most of my games online with friends. It seems as though the ps4 will take over that role with their improved online experience, but it still boils down to what console most of my friends are playing.

Even though I have both a PS4 and XOne, this is also determines which one I'll play more. I have both a PS3 and 360 and my 360 got way more use mainly because hardly anyone I knew got a PS3, and the ones that did really didn't use it all that much.

I'm thinking about trading in my ps4 to get the XBOne Titanfall bundle. I used to own a 360 before I switched over to the ps4, and I loved my 360. I liked the home screen set up and the online play a lot better too. I love the graphics for the ps4 but the XBOne are comparable right? I have friends that play both so that wouldn't really be a deciding factor. I know how great both of their gameplay is, but someone sell me on XBOne's outer features?

I've owned the X1 since day one. I like the system but I think it's still too hard to really tell a difference between the two systems. I'll admit, I've been contemplating switching to the PS4, but Titanfall and friends are slowly changing my mind. I also owned a 360, then a PS3. I preferred the 360 hands down over that. I don't think we will really be able to see any graphically differences until later on when games are solely made for next gen consoles. Also, I love the Kinect features. Not a major selling point, but it's a nice bonus.

Called GameStop and was $450 for system and things that come with it in the box. Then $13 for the plug and charge, I didn't ask about the 2 games I have, but looks like around $510 or so for the trade in. Thanks for the tip, you saved me some headaches!

So did you end up going through with the trade in? How much did you end up getting?

Ended up getting $535. That was the System and stuff that comes in box, plug and charge kit, Madden and Battlefield 4. You get a little more than their quote if you are a Power Up member.

Edit: Just looked at receipt, was $535 not $565.

I own both and if I had to get rid of one right now, it would be the XOne.

Does anybody know the actual deal with headsets on the xb1? I've read some stuff on them but I don't quite understand all of it.

Some sites say they're not surround sound. Some say they can be but having to go through the controller makes it stereo only. But there's ways around that??

Whatever it is, it's crap from Microsoft to have to deal with this on "next gen" gaming systems.

As far as I know the issue with the headsets was the optical out was only stereo but thats been fixed iirc. The lack of an adapter or functional headset is the biggest fail in next gen gaming thus far.
