You sir have no idea what your talking about. Its professional wrestling, those risk do need to be taking ask any fan if they Like the TLC and i bet they say yes!

Mick foley got big by taking those risk as did ECW stars and TLC is what made the dudleys hardys and E&C

However with what they're trying to achieve with the new era of WWE, it's useless. They're better off having John Cena come out to a black chorus singing something and winning a boring match than losing their big-name stars. I say big name stars because the WWE got away from pushing the smaller names in these matches (the cruiserweights/hardcore guys) and instead putting their big name guys in there.

Foley's body was busted way before TLC even became a regular thing.

You notice how they can no longer hit each other with the edge of the chairs in the WWE? It's because that crap isn't worth the long term damage it does.

Same thing with moves involving the neck. Owen Hart almost paralyzed Steve Austin and definitely shortened his career. That's why we have so many horrible finishers now. They've basically been outlawed.

TNA still does headshots and the dangerous moves, AJ Styles hurt some guys neck this week with his finisher.

I'm any fan. I say they're barbaric and irresponsible for a promoter to allow. Edge spearing a Hardy in mid-air is a spectacular visual, but I'd rather still be watching Edge paint on his canvas today. I can't because of what Vince allowed him to put his body through on his stage.

Accidents are going to happen on the mat, to be sure, but good pro wrestling tells good stories without 30-foot bumps that shorten careers. If you "need" those unnecessary risks to keep you entertained, you cut your teeth on an era of wrestling in the late 1990s that's much more an exception than the rule in the history books of the industry. Thank God it's mostly over.

I always loved watching Shane McMahon, dude put his body on the line every time he stepped foot in the ring.

I agree.

I've watched Danielson do both. Watched him take crazy bumps and risks in the Dayton fairgrounds in spot-fests for ROH, but then work a pretty standard match that was absolutely enthralling because of the way it was booked (near falls, sneaking in submission attempts, etc). The well-booked matches are so much more entertaining.

My standard now is whether or not a match can make me doubt the outcome.

Examples: Some of the retirement matches at Mania or the Undertaker's matches at Mania. I know damn well UT isn't jobbing, but if for 30 seconds I start to wonder if it might actually happen and scoot to the edge of my chair when someone goes for a pin, they're doing it right, IMO.

I think in the very near future, Taker WILL put somebody over at WM just like Andre the Giant did.

Bingo. You get it.

Watch any high-spot gimmick match followed by Bret/Austin at Mania 13 or either of the Taker/HBK Mania matches. One is a highlight reel, the others are artistry.

I like a mix of both. There aren't even stories now though.

There are stories, but they move at light speed because there have to be frequent payoffs for the angles to generate buys for the dozen or so Pay-per-Views. The WWE also tends to book on the fly and leave a lot of loose ends.

That and there are a lot more programming hours to fill every week now. I don't blame them for following revenue streams, but five-plus hours between Raw and Smackdown on a weekly basis nukes any creative footing they might otherwise have. On the bright side, it's at least led to more actual wrestling matches (novel concept, right?) to fill the extra time.

I don't think he should unless it's for the guy who can carry WWE for the following decade. I'm not convinced that person exists on the roster right now, at least not after they damaged Bryan so badly.

Either way, it would have to come awfully soon. You know they'll try to get Taker/Cena on the card before he's done, and I wouldn't count on him having more than a couple WrestleManias left in the tank after this year. Wouldn't even rule out this year being Taker's swan song. For the last few years, his availability has depended on how his body recovered from the previous March. I read he's still pretty beat up, but agreed to Mania, anyway.

The buddies I watch with (we're pretty much down to Rumble and Mania nowadays) have been hoping that for a couple years now.

I'm hoping they use it on somebody worthwhile...

That's one thing the WWE Network gives me a tiny shred of hope about.

I'm hoping they might try to shift back to the 4 big PPVs and use the other 8-10 to support Rumble/Mania/Summerslam/SurvivorSeries.

I doubt it, but if for some reason that business model allows them to quit whoring for TLC/Elimination Chamber/etc and focus on longer story lines...well...

with the unification of the belts, this is my hope. But I didn't realize that Orton still carries both belts around. Seems like that means they might split them again.

Damaged Bryan?

...he's gonna come out of this angle like a boss.

I think so too .... No way this is a move to bury the guy getting the most face heat I've ever seen.... Unless they're hellbent on keeping Cena at the top to a fault.

He came out of Summerslam hotter than anybody since Austin. They proceeded to yank the rug out from under him in several consecutive pay-per-views. No, I'm not going to have eternal faith in their willingness to listen to what the fans want. It's entirely possible Bryan comes out of this angle just as hot. It's equally as possible (I would suggest likely) they did it to undermine the crowd reaction since he's not their pre-ordained choice to carry the company flag.

No way? Then why wasn't he pushed to the moon? It seems WWE is no longer interested in striking while the iron's hot.

Sometimes it's best for business :ermm: to tear up the script and give the fans what they're screaming for. Bryan was one of those times last summer, but they opted to set a huge wad of cash on fire and shove Hunter and Steph into the Raw main event every week.

Until the "heel" turn, I was convinced that HHH was going to book himself into WM against Bryan.
