Benoit was just incredible. I would have loved, absolutely LOVED, to see Benoit/Punk. That would be a feud for the ages.

From contemporary wrestlers, I am thoroughly entertained by Santino Marella. I like that he knows what he is and embraces it.

I feel like they're trying to eventually fit Daniel Bryan into the Chris Benoit mold, but I just don't think he's grizzly enough for it. Like...Benoit just had that gritty appearance that I wish Bryan would have. Daniel Bryan looks like a guy you would mess with every time he comes to the ring. Benoit looked like a guy you'd run away from.

Haven't thought about it but that makes sense to me. I do agree he isn't the Benoit personality to fit that mold. He would be more a Dean Malenko type to me.

Im watching Smackdown and Orton just did a superplex off of the top turnbuckle, it got me thinking. Didnt that used to happen all the time, now you rarely ever see it.

It's part of the toning down of the product for a couple of reasons, one being safety and also they're trying to make moves like that important/impactful again. If you see that move every match or every night it loses its significance.

Yea it sucks right now with no blood, no real street fight/hardcore matches, and fewer technical wrestlers. But it's all cyclical, eventually the product will slowly grow like it did in the early mid 90's from the cartoony wrestling into the Attitude Era of the late 90's. It may never reach the same level as the attitude era but the product will get edgier again. (Probably once Linda McMahon quits trying to run for Office.)

It will mature as those young kids get older. Then it will reach the point where kids can't watch it, and this group of fans are too old to enjoy it. At that point it will go back to being kid friendly and "recruit" a whole new generation of fans. THAT is what is happening right now.
