That's terrible for TNA.
Here's the biggest mistake TNA has made IMO:
Deciding to start their Monday night "wars" (and I use that term loosely) when WWE is on the road to Wrestlemania. Really stupid, stupid decision. This is the time of year when WWE is at their best, when they are most focused, no matter how lousy their product gets. They would've been better served to start it after WM, when things start to die down.
Of course I think the other big mistake they've made is relying on guys like Flair, Hogan, Nasty Boys, Hall, X-pac, etc. to fix themselves up. They're trying to reproduce what they did in the 90's. But the problem with that is those guys were still at the top of their game back then. Getting Hogan was a coupe. Getting Hall and Nash was a coupe. Now, they've dragged Flair out of retirement, and they're missing the point of why it worked in the 90's in the first place.
I think if they really wanna rekindle the Monday night wars, they're gonna have to go after the "now" guys like they did back then. Not the legends and has-beens. Jeff Hardy, all his problems aside, is a start. So is RVD, all his sweat-stains aside if they use him right. They're gonna have to go after guys who are big in the WWE now, cause that's what they did in the 90's.
Frankly, I don't think they can do it. I don't think they have the sense, cause I think the game has passed up Bischoff and Hogan. Nor do they have the cents. They don't have billionaire Ted to back them up like WCW did.
Don't get me wrong. I wish they could do it. I used to enjoy flipping back between Raw and Nitro back in the day. But nobody is really on the same level as Vince anymore. I think it will take a young upstart with enough financial backing to do it, not has-beens.
