Would you support Les Miles hire?

Would you support Les Miles as HC?

A guy like Miles is exactly what this program needs right now. An experienced, stabilizing presence. The next hire's not winning big here, so flush that little nugget of hope down the dream pipe along with Gruden and Kiffin. The whole Butch Jones "left it better than he found it" myth will soon be proven just that, a myth. UT's best option going forward, by a pretty wide margin, is a Miles hire at HC with Tee as HC in waiting. It almost makes too much sense.

Miles wouldn't win the SEC here, and I'd pretty much guarantee it. But he would make UT highly competitive and would get us back to playing SEC football. And by the time he retires for good in 3 or 4 years, Martin would be more than ready to take the reigns.

Good analysis, but his top end may be less bounded than you think.

There's another thing, though. If the field starts looking as bad as it did not so long ago, Les can probably tell by the flavor just what the trouble is.

I like Les as a person from all I've seen and heard. He was washed up, and LSU had to fire him, but hey it happens. Father time is undefeated. I won't have any problem rooting for Les to find the fountain of youth, but I just can't stand Fulmer for sabotaging the Leach deal and for undermining our last two coaching searches before this one, calling coaches, telling them not to take the job. Fulmer is our albatross.

Like you would know any of this first hand. Apparently you never learned about believing nothing you hear and half of what you see, and that was before the internet, so the believable half is very very suspect.

Yes, this is real good we will accept a coach nobody else wants. Yall have fun.

Frankly, I don't care about other teams. I care about what's best for UT Football. UT is in a very unique and precarious situation right now. If Fulmer thinks Miles is the right guy for the job right now, then so be it.

I would support him but as many on here have said, I would be disappointed. I feel like we could have gotten Miles from the beginning of all of this had we wanted. When CPF took over I expected to go after those that may not have been on the table with Currie in office. To know that after all we've been through, all of the outcries, that we would be getting a guy that we could have had day 1 but didn't want at the time is underwhelming.

So much damage has been done over the course of the search process though. It has turned so many people off that may have otherwise been interested in the job.

Never cared for Les, and as a 60 something myself, I can tell you that lack of energy, lack of intensity and an Eff it attitude are real at this age. He could be good, I dont know, but with the rebuild we need, it will require someone with a LOT of energy. I vote for an up and comer. FWIW which aint much.

That happened in spite of rather than because of the HC... He's NOT a good coach. His fatal attributes are very similar to those of Jones.

Coming from one of the last Dooley loyalist this is hilarious that you have issues with a National Champion who consistently sends guys into the NFL. All he did was win 75%+ in the SEC west. Yea. Horrible coach.

He isn't anything like Jones though.

I think with his recruiting we would out talent teams to ten wins. Even if he isn't the greatest x and o's guy. Les isn't afraid to gamble and he gets great talent.

I bet many of the same people giving support for Les Miles are the same ones who made fun of him while at LSU. I don't want a re-tread coach - Miles got fired because he was stubborn and would not change.

Les was never my top pick but even despite all the drama I think he would be a good hire. Considering all that has happened I think he is the perfect fit now.

Just give him the resources to get the absolute best staff possible.

He could be very successful here, if given the resources to hire an all-star staff!

Hire him and let's roll!
