Pretty sure that's what I said!

Yeah, you did say that VG. Sorry, somehow I missed that post down at the bottom of a page.

'Giving them the business' is not a real penalty that you would find in the rulebook. These days, that type stuff is all covered under personal foul - unnecessary roughness. That is a very personal foul! LOL

The guy that was punching him probably caught a lot of flak over that.

Lol...you sound like an Oakland Raider fan!

Low blow jh, what did I ever do to you? Lol

Coincidentally, your screen name and my real name share the same initials. Dont know how its relevant but its your fun fact for the day. Now I feel like the guy who talks about deli specials after every post. Todays special: pb&j on iron kids bread with the crust cut off cause we're broke (yet we still manage to afford iron kids bread).

Are high school kids capable of doing the kind of damage a college kid can? (Not being facetious, serious question. High school games look really tame to me.)

Yes, two seasons ago we had our best running back get his leg broken by an illegal hit. That was middle school.

I had a kid in high school the year before last have his leg snapped in two during practice. Another player just fell on his leg. No, attempt to hurt the kid, he just fell and snapped that leg in half. I still cringe thinking about it. I was maybe 4 feet away from him.

that would suck cuz people watching on TV would miss alot of the game. :/

If they can air soccer commercial free in 95% of the world, Why the heck can't they do it here?

Good night. Everyone is just fast-forwarding the commercials anyway.

To much "protection" has led to reckless abandon. I doubt its possible to go back to a less protective helmet such as padded leather but I believe neck and head injuries would go down drastically if they did. Proper technique is a lost art and no one cares about it anymore because they are "protected".

The NFL is a joke. Anyone that has ever played football knows this. Long as its not helmet to helmet or a late hit, let them play!

I would think the potential for damage would be greater the higher the level you go up

especially for brain injury - the padding/protection in your skeleton wouldnt vary that much in a high schooler or NFL player i wouldnt think - but the force applied by the hits is far greater

How about size limitations at certain positions? I mean, isn't the increase in injuries due to the fact that players are bigger, stronger, and faster now?

Fade, I would agree about the upsizing of the players, but the equipment is also a 2 way street. You can make a helmet that protects against all superficial head damage and even makes it where you can run into a wall with it hurting, but it won't ever stop the brain sloshing around IMO. So what do you do, make it "hurt" to hit someone with your head, then you wind up where we were in the 50's and 60's. I don't know, it's a tough nut to crack.

Roger Goodell is the worst thing to ever happen to the NFL. I don't want to see players permanently injured but its getting ridiculous. Defensive players are getting fined and suspended for hits that the NFL used to put on highlight reels.

There used to be a segment called "Jacked UP!"
