I hope all of you excited about this hire aren't clamoring to get him fired in another year or two. This cycle is getting old... Don't defend him now then turn around and act surprised when 7-5 or 8-4 is the best season we can have... AGAIN.

I for one will NOT accept another 5 years of mediocrity on the field and nor will I sit back and watch Currie say he got his man.

We have to be patient. There is a coach out there that will meet the expectations of VN because there is NO WAY that God is this cruel.

He will never beat Florida, Georgia or Alabama. This is a fact. If you can live with these 3 lost games then he's a great choice. But learn to live with all of these lost games each year. Will never win the East, but I guess that what our University wants.

I love how people's opinions are always labeled as facts

I would approve, but why dose it seem like our AD know nothing about his job. He's scared of coaches like Leach and Pelini because of their past, but offers others without regard for possible backlash. Once bitten, twice shy? Too weak to be an effective AD?

5 more years of losing to Bama.
5 more years of losing to Georgia.
5 more years of losing to Florida.
Maybe we beat Vandy once in a while.

Woo Hoo!

Didn't you support Jones?

The biggest difference between Brohm and Jones is that Brohm has a top tier football mind. Jones... has NEVER been mistaken for a top football mind.

And the same can be said for those already against it. Don't be jumping on board when it's going good.

Wouldn't worry about it. Currie will probably be fired as soon as the new HC is hired. I would not be surprised to see Fulmer installed as the AD. The one guy who can pull all of the booster factions together is Fulmer.

Yes What he did at Western Kentucky and Going bowling at Perdue first year
I believe a very good candidate

Coat tails of Petrino at Western Ky, BP’s players aka Butch. What he has done at Purdue is impressive in wins, unimpressive in losses to teams that he should have beat. Wins those he shouldn’t and loses those he shouldn’t.

I think he Can coach, can he recruit? No one knows that for sure as he hasn’t been a coach at a blue blood. Recruiting in the SEC is like no other. He needs to hire a Jay Graham alpha recruiter or the like. Don’t think he and his two brothers will suffer in recruiting, but having a guy to lean on to know the ins and outs with HS coaches at the big hotbeds in the south will help.

Leaving Purdue after one year, he could do the same at Tn ala Kiffin style. He will be Purdue’s Kiffin.

The cycle is necessary. You set expectations then hire... and fire coaches as necessary... until you find someone who can meet your standard. Or we could go your way and keep a coach regardless of how poorly he performs or how deeply he drives the program into a hole.

Yes. We are excited because there is promise. Yes we expect Brohm or whoever else takes the job to meet a high standard or be fired.

Now, we are defending a resume and his potential. That has NOTHING to do with accepting subpar performance in the future.

Get over being hurt for Jones. He got his chance and failed. He was not mistreated. UT did the right thing in replacing him.

Dumba$$..He will be the best hire we have made since Fulmer. You may wanna do some research before just spouting out stuff. I guarantee you there won't be 5 more years of losing to all 3 of them. Go pull for one of them if you have a problem with it little guy.

BP was at WKU for one year. Brohm was his OC. BP hand picked him. Brohm had MUCH more to do with building WKU into a championship team than BP did.

He's young and intense. That will help him recruit. But you are right. He needs to hire the right people. I'd keep Gillespie for sure.... probably Warren. I might even keep Shoop.

There is no promise, and you're exactly the type of person I'm talking about. Are you really so stupid as to not understand why we're in this continuous cycle of mediocrity? You're the type of person that says we shouldn't accept it then turn around and defend a hire like this. There is no promise, you have to hold the AD accountable at this point.

This may have already been posted but:

Purdue has won 6 games this year and has been competitive in every game they have played. They only won 10 games total in the prior 4 seasons.

Western Kentucky was:
30-10 with Brohm as the head coach. 2 outright conference titles with 11 and 12 win seasons.

8-4 under Bobby Petrino

14-10 with Willie Taggart in his last 2 years (2-10 in his first year but you shouldn't count that)

Western Kentucky is 6-6 under Mike Sanford this year.

His players love him and is respected in the field. This isn't the sexiest hire but all signs point to him being a good head coach and much better than the past two doinks we had.
