Worst Neyland experience?

The Dooley Missouri debacle when he played for OT and loss. I knew that was it. I was done and yelled at that whus and telling the entire world to fire him now. I would've yanked him off that field before the OT even started and coached them myself.

Just thought of two more.

- I think it was Auburn in 1989. A torrential downpour and I pulled my shirt up over my head to create a canopy so, I could see the game and not get my face pelted with wind driven, seemingly quarter sized rain drops.

- UCLA in September 1991 ( I think). It had to be 100+ degrees on field and in the stands. Facing West in the upper deck, no shirt, and got torched. Tommy Maddox was the highly touted UCLA quarterback and I seem to remember that Tennessee shut him down.

1990 loss to Bama on Doyle's late 48 yard field goal. We were actually favored/expected to win but were 100% inept offensively behind Sterling Hinton.

Returned from Iraq in late October 2005. My wife works at Vandy as a nurse. We went to the Vandy vs. U.T. game. Ended up losing the game at the last moment. This officially eliminated us from a bowl game that season..........

That was definitely a low point . I was there, too. Thanks for your service! :hi:

2006 Marshall. It was a torrential downpour and we did not play well at all. In fact, the game wasn't really in hand until late in the 4th quarter if memory serves. Just a miserable day sitting in that weather and watching really bad football.

That UCLA game was the most miserable I've been to in Neyland. I was a kid, but I thought my dad was gonna die from heat exhaustion. And I'm pretty sure Smokey died as a result of the heat during that game.

2011..Tennessee curb stomps Buffalo. Some girl passed out (from being drunk) and fell into me at the concessions line. 2 cops watched then went back to her conversation. I had to remind them that someone just passed out cold and was now laying on the floor..

Then some idiot in the stands was taunting the Buffalo fans..that game was a blowout..

Typical Knoxville police! Rude mean disrespectful & totally worthless directing traffic!

2013 Vandy game. The refs totally botched that game. I was so mad I couldn't speak afterwards. 2012 Florida game really sucked too.

When I was a kid (little) and a drunk redneck grabbed my wrist hard and told me the correct way to shake a cheer finger was in front of me. What a bastard. Scared the crap out of me. My pops cussed him under the stadium.

2000 FL game. i got my tix from a guy at work (in NC), little did i know his son was on the FL scout team so he got the parent tix.

sitting in Neyland Stadium, in the heart of the FL section watching Gaffney make that *cough* catch.....brutal.

I was right in the middle of them as well in the lower bowl. Was awesome until the last couple mins.

We bought ours on the street from a fellow UT fan.

2001 Georgia may be both my most exciting and most excruciatingly painful game I have ever been too. The stadium was literally shaking after the Stephens screen pass and the walk back to the car was deathly quiet. Tennessee prevent defense at its finest.

2014 Florida was rough, 2015 Oklahoma would've been worse if there was a strong rivalry like Florida

Yea, the OU fans were saints compared to the southern version of Jersey Shore that is Florida Fans. OU fans were very complimentary of the Tennessee experience and kept commenting on how loud and big Neyland is. At least the ones I talked too.

In 1958 when UTC beat UTK in Knoxville. Second worst was when Wyoming beat us in Knoxville. I do not remember if it was HOME COMING or not. That was one game when I left before the game was over.

September 26, 1987 - UT vs Auburn - Tied 20 - 20 - Worst part, we had three people in two seats, my girlfriend sat in my lap - in the Auburn section! Those Auburn jerks complained the whole time, this old lady threatened to have her son whip my butt - Until I stood up - 6'-3" - 265 . . . but my girlfriend made sure I had a happy ending for the day!! :devilsmoke:

The worst non football experience was 1n the seventies when we played Georgia and the concession stands ran out of one in the 3rd quarter and it was temperature was still over 90 degrees.

Florida and I forgot which year (does it matter) 6 College age students was just about as belligerent as you could get point at us taunting about the game.

I finally ask them what they had to pay for their tickets, they said 175.00 a piece. Really we only pay 65.00 each for our tickets (season) Boy, they saw you guys coming.

2001 UGA. Sat next to a group of Dawgs who were obnoxious the entire game. After Stephens had long touchdown in the 4th with 44 seconds to go, I finally turned around and said something back to them. Little did I know they would score and win thanks to a ridiculous squib kick and Fulmer's famous prevent defense. Wanted to eat my hat.

2000 Florida, no question. I still get angry about that game. Absolutely despised Florida ever since.

I forget the year, but we played South Carolina in a night game at Neyland. We won (20-13, I think), but it was SO freaking cold. The wind was relentless in the upper deck. And there was a drunk SC fan screaming "First down Cocks" after every. Single. First. Down.

2010 hosting Oregon in a downpour, lightening delayed, watching Oregon score 45 consecutive points against a totally outclassed Vol squad. The Quack Attack could have scored 85 consecutive had they wanted to, just a horrible display of college football. Oregon was playing bigtime football, the Vols that night were barely playing peewee football in the second half. A miserable experience all the way around was had by yours truly that night.
I was at that game also. Ugh

Well, I am not going to include the game results. But I sat next to the Fatterson family during a game. The father, mother, son, and daughter, took up six seats instead of four. Da g, that was brutal.

2014 against Florida.... My wife bought me tickets for my birthday not knowing we were in the Florida section, row 4 behind the bench. I can't blame her, she didn't know. But the sounds, remarks, and crap from their fans about landed me in jail. It got so bad, about 3 mins before the game was over I was planning how I would handle it if I got arrested because the guy behind me was about to end up in one of knoxvilles finest ambulances and the spot on ESPN wouldn't have been bad either haha

Sad thing is I have been to about 70% of the games listed on here. Lol. Worst was 2013 Vandy for me by far. I'm pretty sure I had an aneurysm at the end of that game.
