Worst case for TN

Worst Case For TN?

We win a lot of natty’s, SEC CG’s, SEC East Titles, and ticket prices go up past the point of affordability?

Just letting the party out of my head...

As much as I would hate it to happen we could always call Kiffin if it did. We know he doesn't mind leaving people at the alter in the middle of the night. Has Gruden hung up yet or do we still have him on line 3? :)

So there are rumors that Saban is considering going back to the NFL for the NY Giants job.

Was actor/comedian Tom Arnold (gasp) right about Nick Saban and the Giants?

If this is true, I think a worst case for TN is Saban leaves after the CFB playoffs, and Bama gets CJP to come back home to Bama as their HC.

You know he would take it. We would then be left again without a head coach just a few weeks before National signing day.....

Hope this doesn't happen but its a risk when you hire a Bama grad and Saban likely only has a limited time left at Bama. Someone will need to replace him.

Of course all this is speculative and unlikely. For conversation's sake though, if Bama steals CJP 5 or 6 years down the road and CJP has a chance to rebuild TN first - fine. But if it happens in a similar way to Kiffin - only a year or two in to the rebuild - it could crush us again...

hilarious:eek:lol:

Saban makes over $11 Million a year now. The Mara/Tisch contingent would never pay that much, even if he was both Coach AND GM & Saban's not taking a paycut either.

In fact, there's only one current NFL owner with a losing record who would possibly consider paying that much...

NEVERMIND!

;)

Yeah, the rumor in that article says Saban would be gone to the Giants but for Bama making the playoffs. Its just rumors, but it is a nightmare situation for TN if it happened. You know Bama would be attracted to CJP given his bama ties.

Actually Saban going to the NFL in January would be the best thing that could happen to UT.

No way will they hire an unproven HC. If they go all in for a Bama guy it would be Dabo not CJP.

Now 3 years down the road if Pruitt is kicking a.. and taking names here in Knoxville and Saban leaves, you have a whole different scenario to play out. But for now I hope he leaves in January.

Saban is going no where...Living in NY is not like living in Bama..He has family and grandkids in Bama and is not leaving them..NO way he does anything to hurt his legacy..His ego is to big for that...
Also he has 2 business there also...

Did Pat Dye ever go "home" to Georgia? Did Dooley ever go "home" to Auburn? Some do , some don't. Too early to start such speculation.

Dooley actually took the Auburn job and a day or so later changed his mind.

Saban is not going anywhere. But if he does, Pruitt would be down the list of possible candidates. They would have to be told no by about 10 guys first. They are a different level program then Tennessee. Always have been. And will until football is outlawed in 15 or so years. They will go after an accomplished head coach. Dabo is first up to say no.

Kiffin obviously created lasting damage to the VOL psyche.

It did mine. I didn't like Kiffin to begin with because he seemed so foreign ( non-southern). But, not being a coach guru, I trusted that smarter people picked him. I thought he was smart but immature. So, time marched on and we settled in and I got over my gut feel. Then he dumped us and I realized my gut feel was right. I was much mad at myself as I was at Kiffin. So, yeah, my pscyche was damaged by Kiffin. He became the fourth greatest lie known to man.

i might cry if we got kiffin'd again.

Well if UT Administration, has a good contract written up it should protect us if he were to quit. I don't understand these one sided contracts with all favoring the coach. UT should receive just as much if the coach were to quit as we have to pay if we fire him without cause. I don't want to lose Pruitt because I think he will do a great job here. But if he has to pay UT millions if he were to quit, we will be ok anyway.
