Why is this situation controversial?“Under WNBA rules, a player or coach is automatically suspended without pay for one game upon receiving an eighth technical foul…”
It is sort of like suspending a driver's license after someone fails to pay a dozen speeding tickets.
The Draymond Rule…Why is this situation controversial?
The NBA has a similar rule. Pro soccer leagues also suspend players after they accumulate a specific number of yellow cards.
This policy was not suddenly invented to target Angel nor is she the first player to be suspended for accumulating too many technical fouls in a give season. Last year, it was Natasha Cloud and Teaira McCowan.
Diana Taurasi had 6 such suspensions during her career.
On the NBA side, such suspensions are an annual (and predictable) event for Draymond Green.
“No, WNBA player Angel Reese has not been beatified. Beatification is a process within the Roman Catholic Church that declares a deceased person to have lived a holy life and is a step toward sainthood. There is no information to suggest that Reese, who is still alive, is undergoing this process. It's not.
There is one person who is either
1) Unable or unwilling to read the cited WNBA rule, or
2) Unable or unwilling to acknowledge that Ms. Reese has yet to
qualify for sainthood.

In fairness to the OP, I don't think they were complaining that it was unfair for AR to be suspended or that she qualifies for sainthood (as we all know, you need a better 3pt shot to be beautified as per Chuckiepoo's post). It's not.

Every bit of this helps ARs brand. It’s built on this crap. Not sure how great it is for her career though.
Also, let’s not forget the tech she got suspended for was when she openly and obviously threw a punch. Probably should have been ejected.
If the Sparks miss the playoffs, and it is kinda trending that way, I don't think Roberts returns. I know that would be the Sparks 29th coach in 5 years but the front office has to look at GSV making the playoffs with a no-name roster and doing it with tenacious defense and a team oriented (no hero ball offense). In other words, everything the Sparks aren't. To many players wanting to be the star and not realizing who the actual star is.Very poor game for Lynne Roberts. That idiotic rotation was repeated to start the 4th qtr! I mean thats totally a tank rotation when they’re still in the playoff hunt. Cam Brink plays less than 10 minutes when the Sparks are getting killed inside in the second half. I love Azura but shes a major defensive liability and hasn’t exactly lit it up on offense lately.
After a very good first half, Rickea gets only two shots of in the entire second half. Plum and Hamby as usual go all hero ball. Rickea is open repeatedly in the post and on the wing and just doesn’t get the ball. Not sure why it’s hard for Roberts to see that the Sparks are 9-1 when Rickea scores 20 points or more. Sparks had long periods when they couldn’t score, yet ignored her. Very frustrating.
Rae has been struggling the last couple of games but did hit a three,
Of course, with such a laughable defense, apparently incapable of any adjustment they were probably never going to win anyway. Three more games to play out the string.
Pretty good game. Storm had some tough calls go against them down the stretch but, hey, it keeps the Sparks alive!Storm blow yet another game. If they lose their last one to the red hot Valks, all the Sparks have to do is win out. As if.
Same scenario w the Fever. They lose out, Sparks win out they’re in.
