WNBA discussion thread?

Rickea had 6 pts 1 rebound and 1 assist. Reese had 24 points, 16 rebounds, and 7 assists. Obviously terrible game honoring a UT legend for Rickea. Disappointing. Not the 2nd season I thought she would be having.
The coach stinks. Plum is not a viable 1st option at all and honestly I think she’s best as a 3rd option. I don’t like what they’re doing over there at all. It’s ugly and not working

Detroit is getting a team the same yr Rickea will be done w her rookie contract.

However, she may prefer Atlanta when she’s free.
I want her in atlanta. Her/Rhyne/Allisha/Naz/Bri Jones and an emerging PaoPao is a nice young group to build with. Atlanta should’ve never waived Amihere though imo.

Per the discussion the other day re couples in the W, Curt Miller traded for Smith to get Dijonna Carrington to Dallas then up and traded her away in less than half a season. Smith described herself as shocked and heartbroken.

Also this happened:

To be fair, Rickea's problem lately is just she can't get a shot to fall. Roberts plays her big mins and runs plays for her. Of course the plays are crazy unimaginative, usually a hand off on the perimeter. Roberts seems completely uninspiring to her team and has been incapable of reigning in Plum when she gets out of hand. Also to be fair, the Sparks' injury and attrition situation has been horrible. I'm beginning to doubt that either Brink or Rae will be back this year. Now they're on the road against three of the top teams.. Bad situation getting worse. I just want to see Rickea fight to get her confidence back.

Tonight is the Commissioner Cup final and Clark remains out with the groin injury. She's only played nine games and her stats aren't good. She leads the league in turnovers and is shooting 39/29. And yet, she's not only an All Star, but fan voted captain. IMO thats embarrassing. Miss me with the next round of oh poor Caitlin.

Doesn't fans vote for All-Star game starters? Who cares who's Captain it just a game for fans and show to begin with...

McBride has struggled a bit this year, she’s one of my favorite players in the W. Usually she’s rock solid consistent but she’s been wildly up and down this season.

Surprised the Fever pulled off the win on the road. They just wanted that one more.

Carleton is a waste of space at this point. She’s the player I always go to in my mind when I think of Rennia. Criminal a player like that can stick in the league and Re can’t.

I just hate she’s (or anyone) getting a courtesy all star spot that others deserve more,

If the point is to have the brightest "stars" on the teams, there isn't currently one brighter than Clark. Regardless of her numbers, she's still the it girl of the league, and the one who gets the most attention. I'm guessing it would take a lot more than one injury-affected season before she'd no longer be the biggest draw in the W. Of COURSE she is an all-Star!

Like I posted the game is just an exhibition game for the fans. Fans vote on who they desire to see play in the game. All first team WNBA is the issue individuals should complain about ...if CC even makes first team

I am just surprised that CC has had such a subpar, injury prone season (to this point) following an off season where she presumably had time to really rest and prep for her second season. She and Rickea are mired in a significant sophomore slump.

I hate those kind of fan posts. You can take any NBA game and find a series of plays where all the men players look inept. But, for WNBA haters, these selective clips serve the agenda of arguing that women can't play sports and really should be in the kitchen.

True. It was just a snap shot. But… we are discussing investing millions of dollars into expanding a league where this occurred in the Championship Finals.

And? Madtown's point still stands. This is ridiculous. You could more easily put together 100 exciting clips from the very same championship finals. Give me a freaking break.

In the just finished NBA finals (OKC versus Indiana), there were several games that had long stretches of very ugly basketball where both teams could not buy a bucket and seemed to be in a TO competition. Easy to splice together a compilation of that hot mess and then proclaim women ball players are more skilled.

As in all other things, context matters.
