WNBA discussion thread?

This topic has me confused. What exactly do you mean when you say get after "it?"
On the court, they’re physical. Sometimes that does indeed go too far but it’s never targeted toward someone’s sexuality.

And of all the things said in this thread … “getting after it” is what you questioned lol

Back to actual games?

Now Paige is out w knee injury but I think that’s more resting her in the second of a back to back. Surprisingly, the Wings beat the Mystics anyway.

Odyssey Sims is back, the Sky is tired and Kamilla is gone. This should be a good day for the Sparks.

I sure don't blame Cardoso for prioritizing her commitment to playing for Brazil. I only know a couple of Brazilians, but they (and everyone they talk about who is from Brazil) are fiercely loyal to their homeland, and since Kamilla gets to go home so infrequently, it's a no-brainer that she's going to want to take every opportunity to go and represent them in competition.
There was a time when Brazil was pretty good competition for the U.S. They had some greats back in the day. Does anyone remember Janeth Arcain? And Erika de Souza was a hoss. Iziane Castro Marquez. Helen Luz. Hortência Marcari! All greats.

I’m just glad as hell Kamilla’s not playing today. Bad stuff happens when she’s around.

This aged well.🫤 the last sentence that is what aged well, the Sparks lost to a depleted team.

Rickea had 6 pts 1 rebound and 1 assist. Reese had 24 points, 16 rebounds, and 7 assists. Obviously terrible game honoring a UT legend for Rickea. Disappointing. Not the 2nd season I thought she would be having.
Tough to watch and no one else to blame, not system, not KP ball hogging this time. This is the most prolonged shooting slump I’ve ever seen her have. Last four games have been brutal. Usually she can score 10 or 12 even on a bad day but not today. She’s never been able to get anything consistent going so far this year.

Angel’s the opposite. She’s just embraced what she does and how she does it. Hamby couldn’t begin to stop her. After a slow start, she’s been fantastic. Deserves all star.

Rickea had one good moment today, bodily extracted KP from a dust up w Nurse and Atkins.KP kicking her legs is hilarious.

That’s a disappointing geographical distribution.
Yeah, two of the three already had their chance and ended up folding. Now, maybe the second time around will be different. I hope so. But Philadelphia? Color me skeptical. I hope I'm wrong, but that city doesn't strike me as being one that would be particularly excited to support a women's basketball franchise.

All that said, folks in those three cities obviously did the legwork and determined they believe strongly enough it will work that they submitted the successful bids. I, personally, would love a franchise in Tennessee, but obviously there's no entity in Tennessee who thinks it would be a strong enough idea to be willing to do the work to get it done. And since the league has been around 29 years and in all that time there hasn't been a Tennessee franchise, then folks must truly think it wouldn't succeed if there were one. I'm guessing investors believe there wouldn't be enough pure basketball fans who'd make the leap from Lady Vols to also support a pro team. Maybe legit, I don't know.

Philadelphia is a rabid Sports city. I hate the Phillies,Eagles,Flyers and 76ers but the fans will support them. Plus boo them also

I'm well aware Philly supports its men's pro sports. It remains to be seen whether they'll support a women's team just as well. As someone who has lived there before, I'm skeptical.

So you were one of the individuals throwing snowballs at Santa Claus.in philly..😆

Yes! And they can turn on their own team members in a heartbeat, booing them too. When I first moved there I went to a fair number of Phillies games, but eventually got tired of how the fans so often treated their own players if they happened to be in a slump or even just a really bad game. I often found myself thinking Philly would be a tough place to be a pro athlete unless you had an extremely thick skin. They're brutal up there. 😲

They’ve always been that way with every sport team.
