WNBA discussion thread?

Heads up: I just accidentally noticed that the Indiana Fever is going to be playing the Brazilian National team Sunday, May 4, at 4 p.m. on ESPN2.

Obviously the new Fever has just begun training camp and so won’t be ready for prime time, but if you’re like me you may still be interested in getting a glimpse of a W game if you’re missing basketball already.

And if you have three hours to fill, the WNBA Countdown show is at 3.

I believe all WNBA exhibition games will be televised this year. On Friday night, ION TV will be showing Dallas and Vegas at 7:00 at Notre Dame, and at 9 Chicago playing the Brazilian national team. These games are college homecoming for some of the WNBA stars. Saturday, Indiana and Washington playing in Iowa City on NBATV.

All the exhib games are also on the WNBA ap for free.

The Sparks exhibition, with 3 LVFLs, is Tuesday and will be the new Valkyries first ever game. Sparks first reg season game is also against them. Unfortunately, the Valks look to be historically bad w a roster that would struggle to beat a middish college team

Probably it for her career. At 5’6” her W prospect was questionable imo. After that it’s probably a long shot for her. Great college player though.

Opens up a big opportunity for Zaay Green. I think she and Serena Sundell were the steals of the draft. I’d take take 10/10 over HVL. I was shocked she went as late as she did. Zaay is a pro.

Diamond starting the season injured again. Injuries are a plague already. Aliyah Edwards just went out for at least a couple of weeks w back problems. Really unlucky since she had a great off season and bc the Mystics are already so,so thin.

Just saw Clark is questionable with a lower leg injury. The injury bug goes on,
Wings/Aces starting now
Wings are going to be awful as I expected. Paige is struggling as I expected. She’s way too scrawny. Aziah James fm NC St looked good for Dallas, 10 pts in the first half.

Aces look good, a healthy Chelsea Gray makes a big difference. They lead by 18 at halftime. A. Nye has had good moments, looks like she’ll make the team.

I know they’re still kinda young to get married, but JPJ’s GOT to be thinking about putting a ring on that girl, doesn’t he? 😃
She wears what looks like an engagement ring sometimes, but not in this pic, JPJ is very young, don’t think he’s 22 yet.

JJ Quinerly also looked good.

PB did ok, shot well, but is really going to struggle physically.

Next up the Sky play the Brazilian National team at LSU.

Yeah, as an old fart I can say through experience that living a few years on one's own as an adult would almost always be more beneficial than pairing up for life is at such a young age.

In what I would consider a perfect maturity scenario, no woman would marry before age 27, and no man before age 29. and that's STILL young!

Agree! Esp about living on your own. Rule for my daughters is dont go straight fm your Fathers house to your husbands house. Have your own house. However, the leap of faith needed to make a “forever” commitment gets harder as one gets older, wiser and more cautious . I have a young 30ish daughter going thru that now. Loves the guy, but really loves her independent life.

Mystics vs Fever at 1 today on ION in front of thousands of disappointed fans. CC is unlikely to play and the already hapless Mystics are without Aliyah Edwards. Yikes.

Watching the Wings/Aces was hilarious. Jackie Young plays like a grown woman. So nice to see her ball out. Announcers never shut up about Chelsea Gray all night, meanwhile Jackie diced em up at her Alma mater.

Bueckers was unimpactful as I expect she mostly will be this season. She is going to need to put on about 15 pounds it she wants to compete. Announcers kept saying “Bueckers isn’t going to need to adjust to the league..” Which is hysterical considering the narrative about CC last season.

Of the two Bueckers will require significant more adjustment. The LEAGUE had to adjust to CC not the other way around.

Really? Her numbers looked okay. 10 pts. 2-3 from the 3, 4 assist in 23 minutes That does not seem that bad for a debut game.
Got battered physically and burned badly several times on D. Not terrible but as noted by someone upthread, definitely doesn’t look game changing. Dallas overall looked wretched.

Well that was a fun pre-season! Gotta love an OT game. Mystics have a lot of potential. I love their young roster. Citron could be rookie of the year. She played her role at ND well but she has way more to offer.
