That kind of injury is devastating at any age, but as you said, at her age it can be career ending. Maybe a little Karma for her attack on Paige. I am hoping for a full recovery no matter how I feel about her, these injuries are just the worst for any basketball player.

By "attack", I take it you are referring to when Vandersloot was in a completely normal and quite legal guarding position and Paige drove right into her body (as Vandersloot shuffled her feet legally to close off the driving angle) and they accidentally collided heads? Yeah, CV definitely deserves a potentially career ending injury for having the audacity to legally guard "attack" Paige Bueckers....

That’s a huge wire to wire win for the Sparks. Helped that Aja went out in the 4th. What an enormous bounce back for Rickea! Credit Lynne Robert’s, she went to Rickea early and often. She was scoring from everywhere, started out hitting 4/5 threes and then hit ‘em w the middies and drives in the second. That versatility really opened the floor for Steven’s and Hamby who both also had big games. Plum had 9 assists. This is how the Sparks can win, w everyone involved.

Gets even harder, have to go to Minn. Saturday. But this was a legit, much needed win.

Aja Wilson with possible concussion. A totally dispirited and deflated Hammond blamed Hamby bc of course she did. The dangerous love affair w “physicality “ has to dialed back.

Hammond was also extremely ungracious toward Rickea, more or less wrote her 30 piece off to luck, a “wild card” she couldn’t have foreseen. Which is weird bc of their meager 8 wins last yr, the Sparks beat the Aces twice and Rickea had big games both times. Whatever.

Paige B had 35 pts in her first game back but the Wings stay just awful. Paige and Arike simply can’t play together, as everyone feared.

So happy to see Rickea have an actual Rickea game with a high shooting % and some presence on the boards. The onus is now on her to prove Hammonds wrong and string together a long series of solid games. Hopefully, the Sparks have found a formula they can build on.

The world changes fast doesn't it? In two seasons, Hammonds has gone from the golden coach building a dynasty to a bitter, whiny underachiever.

Impressed with Paige's performance. 13-19 (and 5-7 from three) is lights out shooting. Would not have expected that after an extended concussion/illness lay-off but maybe the unscheduled "break" is what she needed.

rallying for her to be the hire in the Spring of ‘24.

Both Becky and her team seem completely uninspired and def not having any fun. the Aces so far lost big trading away Plum for an apparently washed Jewel Loyd. Not getting a quality center to go with Aja has hurt too. BH doesn’t seem to enjoy coaching any more.

I shudder to think about how much I'd now regret it if I'd gotten my way when the Lady Vols job came open. I actually thought that Hammon might be a strong choice, but I can barely even stand to look at her sourpuss face anymore. Gawd. I'm so happy we got Kim Caldwell instead.

Phee’s by far the best player in the W this year, no one can guard her.

Rickea had another really nice offensive game, 18 pts on 50% shooting, 3-5 fm 3, 5 rebs, a couple of assists. Plum, Hamby and Steven’s were dreadful today and P and H played ball hog again, esp in the 2nd half. Very frustrating.
