With Joker Phillips out does UT...

Auburn is desperate to get back in a competitive status. I have many friends who are big AU alums and they are already talking about Gruden.

every half way decent coaching job that comes up,all the fan bases are hollering Gruden, like it use to be with Cowher,he seems to like getting well paid to talk football, instead of coaching it,both of them actually

I'd like to give Sam Pittman the Interim reins for the rest of the year or Jay Graham.

Peterson, Strong, Gruden, Patterson and Smart are the best available if we can get them.

i think Strong, would be the most likely of that bunch to take the job,i hope not Smart,i just don't believe all the Gruden talk,he just makes to much money,to sit on his butt and talk football, instead of having to hit the college recruiting trail.but you never know, his wife might make him do it lol

Yes, I agree strongly. What are we waiting for?

All I can think of........hart is doing a CYA move. Hart is going to let Dools lose to Mizzo and / or Candy. And that will be enough rope for Dools to hang himself

the ship is slowly sinking

I'm beginning to get frustrated. We can't keep holding onto Dools, we need to make a change. Why would any recruit want to come here right now? UT is losing revenue every week. The only explanation I have is Hart doesn't have any big names that would commit.

...need to take action on Dooley sooner rather than later? I mean, do we want to potentially be the 4th SEC team to be looking for a new HC? I'm sure things happen behind the scenes, but UK is publicly first in line.

Its in best interest for the program and Dooley, so he can apply at UK.

Damn I know they are like 1-8 this year but I thought that win against UT last year would give him at least 4 more years at that school because of the broken streak.

Any D1 team that loses to Vandy 40-0 should fire their coach immediately.

Dykes is leaving La. Tech and coming to Tennessee.

That will give us 2 La. Tech coaches in a row, LOL!

I think the big booster businessmen are waiting to see if oDUMBa gets reelected so they'll know it the economy will get better or worse before they decide how much money they might toss in the pot.

You people also keep forgetting that we MUST have a new dorm building for our players because our 40 year old dorm is hurting recruiting.

This is the 1st major hire for AD Hart and his job could be riding on it so he may be telling the businessmen boosters that we'll either get a huge HOMERUN hire or we'll keep CDD until his contract is over or until we do have the HOMERUN hire ready to sign the contract.

Everything is on the table when you're talking this kind of huge money.

Haslam also has his sons political bills to pay so those many Millions of $$$ are on his mind too plus he's going to have to spend huge money to ever get the Browns playing well in the NFL.

Even wealthy people are tight fisted with money with this horrid economy we're in.

If Romney gets elected money will start flowing again pretty quickly because businesspeople will know alot of the ignorant regulations will vanish in January and oDUMBa healthcare will vanish too and the coal industry will start booming again as will the oil industry with lots more new drilling and the pipeline coming down from Canada.

There's lots more to consider in this situation than just who we can find that will take our Vols coaching job which most will probably turn down again anyway unfortunately.

VFL...GBO!!!

I don't think we are going to be competing for the same caliber of coach as KY will be.

So Tennessee not firing Dooley.....is Obama's fault. I have heard it all now, I really have.

no......only job we need to worry about is if Auburn comes open...

ESPN Rumor mill says UK is interested in Rex Ryan? If this is the same Rex Ryan Im thinking of, does that mean that UK is gona make a push to get him if Tennessee gets Gruden?

Same excuse for not making the change last year.

Joker Phillips in 2-plus years at UK — 12-23 overall, 4-19 in the SEC, 0-1 in bowl games

Derek Dooley in 2-plus years at UT — 15-19 overall, 4-17 in the SEC, 0-1 in bow games

Not surprising - 2 plus years is not enough to rebuild.
There is a major difference however - Kentucky cannot recruit vs rest of SEC in football (due to tradition of sucking) while UT is the second winningest SEC program. That is why CDD was able to get Bray, CP, Hunter, etc to join. Unfortunately even with great talent it still takes time to put it all together. Last year o-line was talented but terrible, this year it's defense. Next year most likely everything will finally click and we will be back to the old UT we all expect (this assuming we win out this year and CDD gets another year). If CDD is ousted at the end of this year get ready for another 3-4 year wait before next rebuilding project has time to get proper momentum.

In full disclosure, Bray was recruited by " he whom shall not be named" and was already enrolled in school at the time of his midnight exodus.

Ok - you are right about Bray. I still stand by my statement that CDD has recruited well and especially on offensive side of the ball (ie. receivers and o-line - we are probably top in country).
