With Joker Phillips out does UT...

I admire UK for making a move. Football isn't even their money sport, and they think they can do better. We're allegedly committed to football, yet we let a clearly floundering coach set negative records week after week and pretend we're following some "process." We'll have to give away tickets to have 50K at the Mizzou game, and our O will have to win another shootout to bail out our D.

Still, the more teams move forward with thier coaching changes (KY, Arky, Auburn), the less qualified targets to replace Dooley.

Scary silent right now.

if Hart and company are going to make a move,i would think the behind the scene negotiations are all ready going on,i would be surprised,if he waited till the last minute to make a major move,I'm sure there is a list being worked on,again if

On some level, Petrino is probably on both boards. He may be their first choice and our sixth choice. But I don't see what we are waiting for. Grow a pair hart and let's start the upward climb. We just throwing good money after bad now

i don't think he would be looked at seriously here at UT Jackson, his off field antics are a lot to over come here, especially with Kiffin all most getting them in the NCAAs doghouse and Pearl also, he is a good coach,no doubt about it

i bet Hart has already got his man and if a deal is in place then nothing will be said till after the KY game and DD is terminated and the same day announce the new coach they have had waiting for weeks..:)) I really hope it happens like that, and then recruiting wont suffer a huge loss if its a big time hire...

WoW never thought I'd see the day Kentucky would appear to care more about their Football program than Tennessee.......3 more weeks and the real story will be told......I think there's still hope UT makes the big announcement of our new HC............PLEASE

Someone mention Sean Payton might be available. If true Hart needs to go after him with check book and pen.

If Vandy wins they'll probably shoot fireworks up his azz after that stunt he pulled last year.:focus:

If Vandy wins Clay Travis will storm the field and attack James Franklin and make manlove to him on the 50 yardline .

Fulmer is part owner in a horse up there called Pumpkin. It doesn't race, it just takes money from investors and does nothing.

...need to take action on Dooley sooner rather than later? I mean, do we want to potentially be the 4th SEC team to be looking for a new HC? I'm sure things happen behind the scenes, but UK is publicly first in line.

To be honest, I don't think anything UK football does has any effect on us at all. Perception wise, that program will always be middle of the road to poor and we have to elevate our game the next hire. We shouldn't even concern ourselves. Any coach that would have a choice would come here over Kentucky. It's an ok job but the culture isn't one where you can be winning championships and thinking bigger.

makes you wonder if Chief is looking to be a HC

With the money, buyouts and guarantees that teams are agreeing to these days, it makes me wonder if anyone wouldn't at least listen. If we take coaching out of it and look at it as a business decision, it becomes clearer to me. Would a businessman leave a job where he makes 800,000 a year to take a job for 2 million a year with a 3 year guarantee? I would say the answer is yes almost every time. Plus Chavis can always go back to getting a coordinator gig if it doesn't work out.
Money also makes me skeptical that we can afford to change coaches this year. I know a lot of people on this site have already spent our booster's money on 9 million in buyouts plus an additional 5 million for a new staff(7-8 million for Gruden). I don't buy it because I don't think we can afford it in a year where we posted a 5 million deficit in the athletic budget due to previous coaching buyouts. JMHO!

I'd like to give Sam Pittman the Interim reins for the rest of the year or Jay Graham.

Peterson, Strong, Gruden, Patterson and Smart are the best available if we can get them.

very true, the buy outs will factor into it,more than some want to hear, unless some boosters step up big time

From everything that I've heard their two targets are Cut and Dykes.

I also readily admit I've heard Bobby Petrino come up more in Knox than I have in Lex.

I hear UK fans in my area talk about Chavis as a real candidate, have you heard this/ I dont know many who have any interest in Petrino. I think people assuming that is a possibility when UK, from what I know, has no interest

Hart isn't going to fire Dooley till after the season and if he wins the remaining games and the bowl game it's not going to happen period.
