How sure are you of that? I’ve seen other places saying that while nothing is official, it’s leaning towards a hard 13 cap.Right now you have...
Chandler
Vescovi
Bailey
Diboundje
Mashack
Powell
James
ORN
Plavsic
Fulk is a possibility to return for a 6th year, regardless of if he does or not we have 4 spots open...hard to say what the team will look like with 30% of spots still open.
Well there’s multiple articles written from reputable people, not someone on a message board saying it.At this point just on another forum from someone pretty well connected. Again though, nothing official - just that it was leaning that way. I guess I’m wondering where y’all have seen that returning seniors definitely won’t count against the 13?
The team will be built around and for Kennedy Chandler, imoBefore we lost the first transfer or player to the NBA, I was told that the team would be bringing in 7-8 new players and that the team would be built around Santiago Vescovi and Josiah Jordan James. No telling who all the pieces will be yet, but it seems accurate.

His ball handling and defense are problematic.Well.
Santi is a career 37-ish percent 3-point shooter with 89 3s in two seasons. He was the best shooter from long range on last year’s team and will likely be the premier threat from deep next year, too.
Edit: obviously the roster is fluid right now, so it’s possible somebody, like Powell, could come in and hit more 3s than Vescovi. So, I reckon that situation is a bit difficult to predict at this junction.
Sure, he might not be a “centerpiece,” but declaring that his impact with be “minimal moving forward,” is just flat incorrect.
I like him just fine, but I see his limitations. It appears they are looking to diminish his role moving forward.

IlluminatiWho is "they?"
The coaching staff? What have you seen that gives you the impression that "they are looking to diminish his role moving forward?"
Last season, later in the year, it seemed like there was a clear directive to have him playing off-ball more since, at times, he struggled against the press and had some problems staying in front of other teams' point guards. Overall, he averaged 29 minutes in the first 19 games he started, 27. 8 in the four games he didn't start and then 31.8 in the final four games when he was reinserted to the starting lineup.
Don't get me wrong -- I'm not on a Vescovi crusade here. I'm not sure he's athletic enough to run the lead-guard spot on an SEC team full time. But I certainly don't see anything nor have I read anything that leads me to believe he's being relegated to a lesser role next season.
I think the hope is that by using him mainly at the 2, he can concentrate on hunting his shot and making assists on offense, and getting better on defense. He's already better at that than Bailey. And he is also a good rebounder. It will be interesting to see how well he does when he plays mainly at the 2.
