Windy's football discussion thread.

Well, it plays a bigger part in the playoff committee’s decisions, as well as bowl selections, so, yea, it is important
Plays a bigger part than what?

The AP always seemed to be the most important one to me. Most paid more attention to it.

I dont blame Schiano. OSU ran a fake punt up 40 in the 4th quarter and the Rutgers guy who blasted the punter was getting smacked by OSU players on the sideline.

I have no issue with Schiano acting that way after what OSU did...

my take is that the punter did that on his own.
He probably has the green light to run if he has an easy 1st down. OSU coaches probably didn’t think they’d have to tell him “not when we’re up by 128 points”.

If I’m the receiver and it’s late and a punter pulls that **** then sideline be damned, I’m laying the wood and it’s probably with targeting added to it. I’d make sure the putter realizes that bad things can happen to you in life. I did like how he jumped up and left the scene after destroying the punter.

The OSU sideline and coaches take a lot of blame for what happened before, during and after the play. I have no issues with Schiano on this case either.

the track record of people I wanted over our last few hires is suspect at best. Some have completely flamed out and some the jury is still out. When I look back at the totality of Freeze’s career I see four programs that sucked and he made them all substantially better in a short time. I figure that’s enough of a track record to assume he can do it again. Now, Heupel has done the same thing in Knoxville although he had not done it somewhere else beforehand. I had no reason to expect Heupel to succeed here and he could still f things up but at this point I think he’s done as good as anyone else they could’ve hired.
You’ve lost your mind.
Hypel replaced 16 starters from frosts team the year before and didn’t miss a beat. Frost recruited nothing and bolted for Nebraska. You could argue that Hypel did a better job year one at Ucf than he did year 1 here.
Hypel also doesn’t get blown out. Dudes a winner and he’s here for the long haul.

We don't belong in the top 10.

Played two cupcakes and Pitt lost to GA Tech and FL lost to KY.

We cannot be in the top 10 with our defense.

Blah blah blah blah blah blah.

I may be going to hell in a bucket, but at least I'm enjoying the ride.

Briarcrest didn't suck when Freeze took over.

We really seem to be “next man up” for the first time in a long time. Our main receiver gets injured and his backup makes plays. And 2 othe guys have breakout games.

It appears that we have key players we don’t even know about yet.

Now if we only had a elite tailback
Amen! For the first time in a LONG time, I'm confident in our back up QBs abilities. It just feels right.

Dude, if these people can't enjoy 4-0 and a win over Florida, they're not going to enjoy anything

Saban has the knack of being able to bring in a 5 star and convince him to ride the bench for a year or two until it's his turn. It's an amazing feat and the main reason they are so deep and successful.

I hope CJH can get Tennessee to that same level. Next year, with Milton being the likely starter, will Nico be happy to ride the pine for a year or will he bolt?

I think Hypel is honest with these guys. That’s why Milton stayed and has worked his butt off. I think he’s been honest with the 5 star too. He’s got to earn the spot and there’s another 4 star already here.

Ding! Ding! Ding! Milton staying in place was a very important milestone, imo.
