Will Wade has been contacted...

Heard a basketball analyst say yesterday on the radio that he thinks Wade is a future superstar though he knows UT fans would not accept him this early in his career. Will be interesting to revisit where this guy is in a few years.

But the real issue as to whether he would be accepted by UT fans, is what color is he?

If you lived in Chattanooga you would know that would be far from right. The fans at UTC are very excited with Will Wade and the vast improvement he has brought to the program in one short year. This is by far the best shape UTC has been in years....maybe ever. With the football team, men's basketball and women's basketball....things are finally bright for the Mocs.

I didn't know that and I fixed your post.

Thanks. But I would expect if Mocs fans are not worried....it is because they don't expect UT to hire him. I really think in a few years he will be a great coach.

If he stays at UTC they will be the favorites going away to win the Southern Conference. With a bit more experience he could be another Bruce he has that kind of energy.

You are right. I think that is why Chattanooga is so high on Wade. I really hope we are not needing a coach in a few years. But....if Wade continues to impress like this year....he could be a very hot property to have.

Ummm, if we go this far down the list...

Just hire Howland. No more coaches that the general fan base has to google.

27 five star or four star recruits in last 10 years coaching.

I'm sorry, but I want recruiting classes so good that my 93 year old mother could coach them to an Elite 8.

.

Then I wonder why this great coach couldn't get past the first round of the NCAA tournament in his last 5 years at UCLA and didn't even make it to the tournament in two of those years?

Maybe Dave Hart should interview your mother. Apparently, she is a better Xs and Os coach than Howland.

I heard the same thing and actually wouldn't be too disappointed with a young up and comer that is out to prove he is a good coach vs. An established coach in their 60's that has half the energy. Bottom line, Hart isn't going to make a home run hire so everyone just needs to brace themselves for a young up and coming coach. Not always a bad thing.

Tennessee probably couldn't afford what he wants but I wouldn't mind them hiring NC State coach Mark Gottfried.

none of that is true.

This is the outlook Hart is banking on, imo. Means he doesn't have to actually try.

who thinks like this??? So your contention is that Hart cares zero about this hire, just as long as he doesn't have to try very hard. He is fine with hiring just whomever because he thinks the fanbase will support the hire anyway....

Please explain, you think he is too lazy to look for a coach? You think he doesn't care if he does a good job as AD??

you didnt ask me but ill chime in - i think Hart is too consumed with finances to make a good hire. hed rather gamble and look like a genius finding a diamond in the rough at a cheap price than fork over 2 mill for a coach we DESERVE.

how in the hell Vandy can pay Kevin Stallings 1.9mill a year after 14 years of crap but we have top 5 or 10 attendance and are trying to find someone under 1mill makes no sense to me.

The Kevin Stallings thing isn't a very good argument. To me, it isn't very smart of vandy to pay him that much.

You may be right about Hart, I don't know, I'm not in his inner circle. But I do think he cares about his job. Most normal people want to do well in their job.

Tennessee is not a basketball school. It just isnt. do we occasionally compete in the tournament? Yes. But Tennessee isnt going to ever pay a head coach the same money that Kentucky or Florida or Indiana or Duke or North Carolina. Those schools are "all in" for basketball and their football programs are marginalized.

Further to that, Billy Donovan was nothing before taking over at Florida. His salary today is a direct result of his delivered performance. Florida wasnt out to "break the bank". They hired an unknown and he turned out. Also, Bruce Pearl was not a big name when UT hired him. He was more infamous than famous.

People really need to get over themselves when it comes to UT basketball. They ARE NOT and WILL NEVER bend themselves over in order to get a super popular big named basketball coach.

We will get another mid-major coach that most people are unfamiliar with. It has nothing to do with UT's current financial situation because back when UT had money in reserve, they still didnt hire big named basketball coaches.
