Will the band travel this year?

I think it's well over 300 members in total. kckempf might have to correct me again, though lol. Not all of those actually march in every given show, though. Pregame and Circle Drill in particular have a set amount of people. Circle Drill is the most competitive, I'd say, as well as the hardest show by far imo. I was lucky enough to get and keep my spot for both Pregame and Circle Drill last year, but many were kicked out of theirs if they couldn't perform at the required level or were incompetent (not marking their drill charts, late to practice, etc.). It's a lot more competitive than many realize. The Pride wants to be the best college marching band in the US, no doubt. Upperclassmen usually are guaranteed a spot, though, so I won't have to deal with that this year as long as I handle my business when I go to band camp on the 7th.

You can count the numbers from the charts. When I was in we marched 192 winds in pre game and Circle Drill (with majorettes, guard, drums, and drum major the total was somewhere above 260). In 2003 we were absurdly short in numbers and some of the graduate and undergraduate assistants had to dress when there were injuries or illness. Now y'all have alternates, so, they have something to compel you to perform your best.

Has anyone counted how many times in a win vs a loss that The Pride plays Rocky Top? What's the # that indicates a win?

First post. I'm a member of the The Pride of the Southland Band and at the end of last year in May of 2016, the directors told my fellow members and I that we will take the whole band to GA (to watch the Vols beat the Dawgs between the hedges, of course :D) and we will take the two pep bands, the Orange Pep Band and the White Pep Band, which is about 150 members in total, I believe, to Kyle Field for the A&M game. We're also going to take the whole band to Bristol and I'm pretty sure we'll do Pregame and Open the T for that. That's the plan as of now. Last year, I got to Open the T for the Oklahoma game inside a checkered Neyland Stadium and it was THE most electrifying atmosphere I have ever been a part of. Just thinking of Opening the T in front of a crowd of 160,000 people gives me chills. I hope to get to go to Atlanta and Tampa this year as well. Just thought I'd share what I know. Go Vols!

Embarrassed to ask this question... but what about Vandy? That is one of the away games I am going to, and its just not the same without the Pride.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong here, but they take a pep band to most away games. They normally won't travel if it's really far. For example this year I expect a pep band at all away games except A&M

Depends. UA and UF let us perform at halftime, so we took the whole band to Gainesville and Tuscaloosa. But apparently, UGA isn't gonna let us perform at halftime anymore. So pep bands only for UGA. That policy is becoming more widespread throughout the SEC. UGA, UK and LSU for example don't let opposing bands go on the field at halftime now.
