Definitely excited to see what Wilcox can do...all I know it that he had a top 15 defense with less talent at Boise St.....I was not impressed with Monte at all last year. Wilcox will be a lot better D coordinator IMO

Wilcox is great in front of the camera. It'll be fun to see how this works out. If he's everything some are hoping, this guy could be the future of the Vols.

Monte is probably the best NFL d coordinator of all time. Wilcox has a long way to go, there were times last year that non pro style offenses gave us trouble I'm hoping that improves now.

You can put me in this camp as well. Monte wasn't impressive at Tampa his last couple of years there, either.

Key word being NFL. College ball is completely different.

Monte is a legend in the NFL. Wilcox is a very bright young defensive coordinator. He will a have a # of good players at TN to coach up. Based on how he did at Boise State..I see him getting the players to at least having the fundamentals in tackling one on one. Then adding the multiple defenses....

Yep, 'tackling in space' will be a fundamental we should expect to see improved this year. Of course, EB is the ideal at doing just that. We should watch the DB's this year to see how well this fundamental is coached.

Monte is a tough act to follow, but Wilcox is good enough to do it.

Hopefully one of our players will pick up where EB was at...but a tough act to follow. Top 5 pick in the NFL...I wonder if Janzen is going to be the go to guy.

Good stuff from Wilcox. He seems to have good fundamental strategy; giving the offence multiple fronts and coverage packages, gang tackling and pursuit, and tackling (which every D-Coordinator preaches).

He will do well. :eek:k:

One thing that has sickened me the past few years is the lack of ability to make tackles. EB aside, i havent been impressed with man to man tackling. That has cost us many games. Heres to hoping CJW will be hard on fundamentals and get these guys ready. GBO!!!!!

Monte did a damn fine job with the hand he was dealt.

If you were not overly impressed with him, don't get your hopes up on Wilcox.

One thing I noticed EB doing a lot is trying to knock guys down with his shoulder and not wrapping up. That won't work in the NFL but I'm sure he will be getting coaching for that.

Yeah he always wanted to clean someones clock. But it worked for him. I noticed him a few times miss a couple tackles because of that and the next few series he would wrap up and not try to hurt people.

Monte had trouble stopping the Wildcat offense. He did a good job last season though.

Been around Wilcox and the staff at the coaching clinic. Just came away with a favorable impression.

If I had a son, I'd feel comfortable sending him to these guys. Former staff....eh...not so comfortable.

From what you have seen...what was Wilcox's strength in camp?

Very true. In fact if KY would have stuck with the wildcat in last years game, I think the streak would have ended. Thank goodness for inept ky coaches though.

schemes that get to the qb. LB coach said, "I've worked with Saban & Monte, and this guy has some tricky stuff I've never seen."

I don't know, I seem to pay attention to the smartest guy in the room. That's what I get from him.
