Pointless and limits their effectiveness. Needs to trash that alignment. I can understand wide slots, but having the outside guys at the sidelines is damn near pointless!

We need a game breaking WR. When we had Hyatt, our offense was amazing and yet we still struggled against UGA in 2022. The wide splits are what they are. I don’t hate stretching the field but it can’t just be horizontal.

Someone who can win one on one and get over the top. Texas has 5 star WR everywhere. We’re building in the right direction but what makes the offense different is the explosive play component.

Nico is improving. It’s hard for a 20 year old QB with only 10 starts to be super refined. But we need more around him. Again, look at Texas’ offense and look at ours….they have crazy skill players EVERYWHERE. We have an elite RB but no game breaker receiver right now.

Gimmick offense that has lost its effectiveness now that the SEC has seen it a few seasons.

I mean it's really not that "gimmicky" though. It's just a formation that can open up some nice chunk plays if executed correctly. What I don't understand is why our playbook just seems so vanilla.

If we have the defense stretched out, why not hit them with surprises like shallow crosses more often? We set up wide and we throw wide, it's quite puzzling.

I also don't understand what happened to our consistent hurry-up offense. I feel like stretching out the defense and not giving them time to get reset before we split them out again was such a hard combo to defend, hence the absurd amount of points we used to always put up.

this is one of 2 major problems with our offense. It won’t matter who plays the positions. The defense plays 2 and possibly 3 deep (rarely 1 deep), and the CB play inside leverage to limit slants or hot crossing routes. If the defense blitzes there is rarely a guy in the middle to throw to.

The trade off is that defenses allow runs. But since we can’t go an entire drive without an offensive penalty, missed block or incomplete pass, we can’t go 12-15 plays consistently.

The other major problem we face is the defense is going to fake an injury with no threat of penalty. Our formation and simple playbook requires speed. When hurry up is thwarted, it’s not a difficult offense to stop if you have average talent.

Not being able to block consistently is our offense's main problem. And I don't think Nico has yet obtained the Hooker level of mastery of the offense to go really fast on unscripted drives. That latter is also hampered by the former. Nico, I am not worried about, that will come to him. The OL is structural. We need to recruit better players. Hopefully we hang on to this Sanders kid.

We simply have not executed. We have had dudes running free downfield and we just simply have not been able to make the pass...the catch....the block,...its been 1000% execution. Once we get things clicking from that standpoint, then we will put up a ton of points.

Our playbook does not require speed. We barely even run the hurry up anymore.

I bet you’d be a hall of fame coach if given the opportunity

Maybe the 40 yard passes that gain 2 yards might need to be tweaked a bit.
This is the problem with this alignment. You have to throw an extra 30 yards for a wr screen or other routes to gain 2 yards. I do wish he would throw in more alignments.
