It's been 10 years!! It's obvious we've been blacklisted by the good coaches. Because every other program has gotten good to great coaches. What's going on behind the scenes? Seriously.
Sigh. Well...Fulmer was a good coach, but just going to the SECE in 2007 wasn't good enough for some fans. He did a great job coaching that year, but some still wanted him gone. The next year gave all the excuse needed.
Kiffin was a poor choice to replace Fulmer, in hindsight. Mostly because he bailed but also because of the childish antics and looming NCAA issues. Also vastly overstated is how well he did at Tennessee. 7-6. Hell, Butch Jones was two games better than that the last two years.
Dooley was the ultimate mistake...a panic hire. Worst coach since the pre-Neyland era, and who gives a crap about anything prior to 1926?
Then we had to settle for Butch Jones as a third choice coach. He wasn't terrible, but he wasn't good either, and two slightly above average seasons aren't going to cut it at Tennessee.
You should already know all this but in summary.
1. Fired a coach we shouldn't have and replaced him with a decent coach who happens to be a complete weasel.
2. Panic-hired a terrible coach.
3. Accepted a slightly above average AAFC coach because it seemed to be the best we could do.
1 and 2 are on Hamilton. 3 is Hart doing his best to salvage the situation. Did improve things, just not enough.
