It's been 10 years!! It's obvious we've been blacklisted by the good coaches. Because every other program has gotten good to great coaches. What's going on behind the scenes? Seriously.

I don't think we've ever been willing to offer big money before. I think it was alway 2.5 to 3 million and all you could get for that is Dooley and Jones.

I'm guessing boosters have too much power, money's has never been elite, fan base is crazy passionate but will turn on you instantly, academic side doesn't cooperate well with athletic side, etc.

Florida paid Mullen $6 Mill. And this is crazy since they have to pay Butch $8 Mill to leave, plus almost $30 Mill to the staff, and to fire Currie it will cost $5 Mill. Seems better to pay $5 mill to a good coach.

Is this true? I heard about this but not sure if it's true!!

Because of the UTAD, and certain big money boosters who control the football program. I believe it's a well-known fact inside coaching circles that our "administration" is a nightmare to work under. The disconnect between UTAD and the fan base was center stage Sunday and has never been more evident; except this time the whole country saw it and lets hope this is just the beginning of UT athletics listening and doing what's best for Tennessee and our fan base for a change

Please explain!

A coach worth having will demand freedom of action and authority to run the team his way (see Saban). He will not stand for having get approval for his decsion from the football mastermind behind the Cleveland Browns or anyone of similar ilk.

Sigh. Well...Fulmer was a good coach, but just going to the SECE in 2007 wasn't good enough for some fans. He did a great job coaching that year, but some still wanted him gone. The next year gave all the excuse needed.

Kiffin was a poor choice to replace Fulmer, in hindsight. Mostly because he bailed but also because of the childish antics and looming NCAA issues. Also vastly overstated is how well he did at Tennessee. 7-6. Hell, Butch Jones was two games better than that the last two years. :)

Dooley was the ultimate mistake...a panic hire. Worst coach since the pre-Neyland era, and who gives a crap about anything prior to 1926?

Then we had to settle for Butch Jones as a third choice coach. He wasn't terrible, but he wasn't good either, and two slightly above average seasons aren't going to cut it at Tennessee.

You should already know all this but in summary.

1. Fired a coach we shouldn't have and replaced him with a decent coach who happens to be a complete weasel.
2. Panic-hired a terrible coach.
3. Accepted a slightly above average AAFC coach because it seemed to be the best we could do.

1 and 2 are on Hamilton. 3 is Hart doing his best to salvage the situation. Did improve things, just not enough.

The athletic director is under siege, the fans cannot be satisfied (to the point they mobilize to slander a potential head coach, derail his career, and put a halt to his hiring), the Athletic Department appears to be tumultuous at best, and taking the job means going up against Nick Saban every year. I think you can read the tea leaves on this one.

Nor should they!
