Why is it that every year, there is so much doubt? Let's get real guys:

-Sure, we allowed an ungodly amount of yards on defense against Georgia Tech but who doesn't? Hell, even the "almighty" Jawja does almost every year. Our defense is going to be fine and is going to win us some games.

-Why is everyone afraid of Georgia again? They aren't that good, Kirby won't last. They just beat a highly overrated Notre Dame team and everyone is scared. That's a load of crap, we will roll them in Knoxville.

-Florida scored 3 points on offense against Michigan, we will beat Florida by at least 3 touchdowns. Their defense isn't crap neither, Speight threw those interceptions in terrible coverage, Dormady will adjust and have a career day.

-We will play in Atlanta in December, this team isn't a nightmare as some of you make it out to be.

It's the NegaVol theme song. It's running particularly loud through their heads this week. Dunno why.

Because for some people the grass is always greener on the other side. There are some seriously joyless humans in this fan base.

It's a defense mechanism for those afraid of failure. I hate being disappointed (looking at those S.Car and Vandy games) just like everyone else, but I will always believe we can win on any Saturday. Especially this Saturday.

Gators' O looks horrible this year. They may get a touchdown from good field position thanks to their D. 24-7 Vols, Kelly with two rushing TDs.

Not just a lot of yards against Georgia Tech...most rushing yards allowed in the HISTORY of UT football. If that doesn't concern you, nothing will. That being said, I think UT eeks out a win.

It's Florida week, but few Vol fans expect the Vols to win, because the series has been one sided for so long, pessimism, probably........will the Vols surprise, let's hope they do
Go Vols

7 wins since 1990...just sayin'.

Current streak: 1-0.

Florida's on-field train wreck at Michigan.

Florida's off-field train wreck of a credit card scandal, suspensions, criminal investigations, snitch in locker room.

Dunno why the song is loud this week. Sure don't.

Just sayin'.

Not all of us are pessimistic. I'm rather optimistic. A lot of us though who think we win and quite possibly convincingly have been burned for that optimism in the past, so it's easier to stay quiet and think the best than to subject ourselves to another possible huge serving of crow again by loudly proclaiming WGWTA.

That said, WGWTA!

28 years vs. 1 year...i appreciate that you can block it all out and focus on only the last 12 months.

but if you want to know why pessimism, at least about this week, this game, remains...i think it's hard to not acknowledge the 'history' as defense exhibit a.

About half our team has never lost to Florida. Thats what Butch and the rest of us should be saying.

What was the result of that game again? I believe it was a W. Doesn't matter to me if we give up a million yards on defense. If we win the game, that's all that matters. Period.

don't disagree, and had the question been "what should we be optimistic about this week"....there's that, and a whole host of other things you could list....most of which deal with all the issues UF is having to deal with this week.

but the question was "why the pessimism". i think that's a fairly valid reason, at least in regards to what's been going on this week, for this particular game.

Actually, no not everyone does.
In 2016, GT only went over 600 years once (Duke)
In 2015, GT closest game to 600 is 571 Tulane
In 2014, GT went over 600 twice (UNC and Pitt)

You have to go back to 2012 to find a team that gave up more yards than Tennessee, Presbyterian 712.

Sure everyone is glad we pulled out the win, but that coupled with how bad our defense was in 2016 and its simply not sustainable in the sec. It will catch up to us sooner or later.

As for the rest of the stuff you said, same could be said the last two season and we see the result. And thus alot of people have no confidence in CBJ to get it done.

Plenty concerns me about Florida but stats dating back to the 90's do not. The streak is broken. The Florida battered Vol syndrome is old

again, the question was "why the pessimism"....

and for those of us that are older than 18 years old, there's been a lot of losing in this series....

so if you want an answer about why does so much pessimism exist....

that's a fairly valid reason.

if we want to change the question to why should we be optimistic...then some of these things being brought up certainly apply.
