Why Tennessee will beat Montana

Don't call me ignorant ...I made my point..Ignorance is refusing to quit posting here when YOUR point is ...well...pointlesss..My response was not to you ...Go "dig" somehwere else..

BTW, don't post about ignorance when you can't even complete a coherent sentence!!!

Ever notice its the ignorant ones that have to resort to typos to prove their point? or to seek validation for their responses. Thanks for that.

I haven't read all of your posts but the most recent were written with class. I can't say that for all of my fellow Vol brethren. Hope you stick around the board after the game!

Thanks, I try...I will stick around. Very good chance I'm moving back to Knoxville area. Got a neat new job that will take me overseas for a few weeks, and then off for a few. And have some great friends in the area, plus my corporate office is just up I-81. I know though a couple dont like me simply I assume because I dare chat up a FCS team here. At least everyone here will understand what FCS is about a bit more, whether they like it or not though is their choice.

We know what the FCS is about man. The Southern Conference, Ohio Valley Conference, Big South, Southeastern, Mid-Eastern and Colonial Athletic Association are right here in our area, just to name a few. I mean come on.

Maybe, but most certainly don't care.

:rtfm: and you think people just bash him for being a good respectful opposing team poster?

lots of people here will bash opposing fans regardless of what they post. it really just makes the fan base as a whole look bad. don't see the point of bashing montana fans when they readily admit they will most likely lose, just makes you look like an arrogant douche bag

e: also not saying this applies to you as all i read were the last two pages. Tnscooby certainly makes himself look pretty dumb though

1. No you are not (old argument though - ie we have two pro prospects at TE)...but you are better at the key positions, and we are inexperienced at both qb & rb.

2. Also true is some cases but not all. We have at least 3 players that start for UT (another old argument).

3. True, no argument

4. True there...but every year FBS schools say this, and every year they lose a couple to FCS schools (including ranked schools on occasion).

UT will win, but will pull away only in 2nd half as depth and humidity take effect, no way you win by 50. Our defense will surprise you. May still give up 40 but you will see plays and stops that you dont believe FCS schools should make.

Nice try...

1. I've heard the argument about your TE, he may be good enough for the NFL, but we have a history of putting TE in the pros too.

2. Speaking of old arguments, if you have 3 players that would start at UT...WHY AREN'T THEY? Are you trying to tell me that a kid had an offer to play at an SEC, ACC, Big 10 or 12, or Pac 12 team and said "No, I'd rather play at Montana"?

3. I see we agree on something.

4. Michigan overlooked App St. VA Tech got beat by Boise St twice, the way I see it. But if it gives you hope to think that UT will overlook Montana, fine. Come to Knoxville watch a game in the greatest stadium in the country and leave. I hope you have a great trip and find everyone gracious.

I still say Montana loses by 50.

Perhaps better to zero in on an Orange Bowl Virginia Tech team that last year loss to a 6-5 James Madison team. IMO, the Hokies beat UT last year, and the Griz beat the Dukes, however the matchup is more comparable.

I spent some time this weekend on campus. Nice to Neyland again. Took bunch of pictures for the Montana fans to see what they are going to see very soon. Everyone I talked to on campus was very cool, and excited for the season begin. I did not hear one negative comment all day. Nice to see the better fans (for all teams) are the ones out and about, and not posting on boards.

Hokies didn't beat us last year...that was the year before wih different coaching staff, different qb, and a head coach probably already planning his exit to the west coast. Sorry but that's a big stretch.

And ill say it again, I hope you have a great time at the game....I wish I could make it over for it. I'm sure you will find the gameday atmosphere very similar to your recent visit. Have fun and enjoy East TN.

Not disrespecting, just a differing view of the outcome.

Tennesee likely wins because they have 22 more scholarships. That's the key in any FBS/FCS match-up. My gut tells me that UT wins by 3 touches.

But here's the thing: Montana has no pressure, and UT has all of it. And what's more, Montana is NOT Tennessee Martin and anyone suggesting they are (or that the Griz are closer to Tenn Martin in talent than App State) is off their rocker. Montana and App State are the top two FCS programs in the nation, and Montana defeated Appy 2 years ago in the semi-finals. Montana is to Tenn Martin what Tennessee is to New Mexico State.

And while I don't have a great deal of confidence that Montana will win, I believe it will be a game, and that for much of it, there could well be 102,000 nervous people clad in orange.

I must be off my rocker because I'm young and don't expect the T formation outside of the UT band.

UT beat UF 6 years ago, so... we are better.

I'm going to say that's doubtful. If the game was in week 2? Maybe- with Florida the next week, the Vols might do the ol' overlook the weak team bit.

This is the first game of the year. Tennessee's players are going to want to get after it and hit somebody new, and while Montana's guys will likely want to, as well, they won't match up to a bunch of big-time college ballplayers.

Probably. And as I stated, there's simply too many disadvantages to exepct Montana to win. But they are a good football team, and if a few things go their way, it could be a tight game, particularly into the 3rd quarter. Montana has played Oregon and Iowa tough for nearly 3 quarter in recent history. It wouldn't shock me to see something similar in Knoxville. (That said, it wouldn't shock me to see a blowout either).

That was not their initial arguement. They have altered it since the begining trying to find something to hold on to.

1.you may have pro prospects, but so do we the difference is alot of ours play in the NFL and are not just looked at by them.
2.again you might have 3 that at some point would start for UT, I can't say one way or the other on that,BUT we have 75 that would start for the grizzleys
3.there have been teams overlook the fcs schools I agree,BUT I can say this EVERY and I mean EVERY team outside the SEC ,fbs and fcs schools both better realize that we are in the BIGGEST,BADDEST conference in the land, and it hasn't become that by OVERLOOKING anyone. Now I am not saying we are invincible. I am just saying I hope you enjoy your visit in the SEC and I hope the players of Montana get to really take in the magnatude of where the are playing. So with that I will just say GO VOLS!!!

Yes, players pick Montana over BCS schools all the time. I think its funny that people in general dont understand that its not all about going to a bigger school. I've been in Neyland multiple times, its a good experience. Ranks in my top 10.

Here is a recent commit to Montana as a Junior....

Schools from across the country came calling, all of them after Capital High’s quick guard Caleb Kidder.

Though the 6-foot-5, 250-pound Kidder, a stalwart on the Bruins offensive and defensive lines, still has a year of high school left, he has already made up his mind of where he’ll continue his football career.

Kidder said he verbally committed to play for the University of Montana a few weeks ago, and has accepted a full-ride scholarship to play defensive end for the Griz.

“My family’s from there and they just have a great game-day atmosphere,” Kidder said of his decision. “I made a great relationship with the head coach (Robin Pflugrad) and my position coach (Inoke Breckterfield).”

Kidder chose the Big Sky Conference school over fellow in-state rival Montana State and a host of other Division I schools, including Boise State, Stanford, the University of Idaho and Washington State. A number of Ivy League schools were also recruiting the Bruin — Harvard, Princeton and Yale showed interest.

“He was being recruited by everybody in the country, so that’s a good pick up for the Grizzlies,” Capital coach Pat Murphy said. “He’s got good size and he’s very athletic for his size. He’s definitely a DI athlete.”

Kidder hasn’t decided yet on a major, but said he is looking into pharmacy, physical therapy and business. Right now, his biggest concern is the upcoming school year and grid season. Kidder said that’s the primary reason he made a commitment so early on.
