This is a selfish post really. But we play UTC on Monday. UTC's arena holds 10-12K, it would be packed out in orange if Tennessee played there.

Georgia played at UTC a few years ago so its not crazy to suggest it. It seems like plenty of P5 schools play at smaller schools. I'd like to see the Vols in Chattanooga once every four years.

As I recall the Vols played at Chattanooga back when DeVoe was coaching. DeVoe didn't want to but the state legislature got involved and wanted the Vols there to show off Chattanooga's new arena. The Vols did play at ETSU a couple of years ago and during the Pearl era had a home and home series with MTSU. Seems good to have the Vols play in other parts of the state to give fans a chance to see the team in person.

No reason to play at a midmajor. Ever. They don’t deserve it

We played in Chattanooga in December 2007 when Pearl was coaching, I was there (of course I live in Chattanooga and am a UTC grad). I think we only beat UTC by 6, something like 76-70

As a Knoxville native and UTK alumni that has lived 25 years in Chattanooga, that is an ignorant comment. They are part of the UT system and for many years had better teams than the Vols aka Mac's Sweet Sixteen time period. Why don't they deserve it? It would be good for East Tennessee and alot of Vols fans down here too and some good athletes that go other schools because of that attitude. UTC B Ball is down right now so don't expect tomorrow's game to be close.

So what? Memphis, Chattanooga, austin peay, MTSU, ETSU, Vanderbilt. All are our little brothers and none deserve respect. We are the flagship and only program in the state that matters

Read an old ESPN article that said Coach K’s philosophy has been if the other school isn’t likely to be a potential 1st or 2nd round opponent he won’t play there. I understand it, and it’s definitely hard to argue with the current GOAT, but think its a little cowardly. Once every 4 or 5 times playing an instate school is just fair. However, that Georgia game was likely scheduled in 2015,16 or 17 and I doubt Crean would have agreed to that game.

Not doing it very often is really just something smaller schools and their fans should accept as a reality. Jmo

We would have to dramatically increase our beer sales at TBA to make up for the loss of revenue!

What is the reward to the “bigger” school?
It’s a gamble without a usual monetary(RPI etc) upside for sure. The competitor in me just can’t stand giving anybody ammunition to talk sh!t. Plus as a Tennessee fan and native, even a loss is a spotlight on the state. If one bad call shouldn’t lose a ball game, one bad loss shouldn’t lose a season.

Either play them in Nashville or play them in Knoxville.

We should play an OkSt /Baylor type team in Memphis if we are going the Neutral site route. Or go back to Charlotte.

Who’s gonna talk sh!t? UTC because we aren’t playing them at their place? Tell them to build a legitimate program where they can demand those kinds of games and maybe we will? There’s no reward for Tennessee to play that kind of game, yes it helps the smaller school, but it does nothing for Tennessee.

Also, look at who we play away from home OOC...Washington, Florida State, VCU/Purdue, Cincinnati and Kansas. So you’re saying we either eliminate one of those big resume games, or take away a home game against a lesser team and thus lose the revenue from the extra home game.

Relax player. Just trying to have a discussion with ya. Nobody is talking sh!t. My post said give them ammunition for talking sh!t.

I say play Duke, Kansas, North Carolina, etc at the FedEx Forum every year, on an orange floor painted with our logos, on CBS prime time, and make the event a marketing slam dunk.

UT played ETSU in Johnson City a few years ago. I don't think RB was happy with it. I'm pretty sure a game like that will never happen again during RB's era

Exactly. The same reason we don’t play at a MTSU or Cincinnati or Boise St in football. They are beneath us and their facilities are barely high school level. Hell, from the 70s thru 90s teams like Penn St, okla St, Texas Tech, Utah, Kansas etc had to come to Neyland without a home and home because they weren’t worth it. UT should only give home and homes to national elite programs. The rest can beg for scraps because that’s what they deserve. We are one of the top 10 football programs and top 25 basketball programs of all time and we earned that
