Why isn't the No. 1 LB in the nation playing

I have never needed to quote Hat to be funny. I used one of his terms because I like the humor in it.

Using the word "hat" in one of your posts doesn't make you intelligent.

You're like a dog chasing his tail. I'm not arguing with you. I said quoting hat doesn't make you funny.

Agreed about being a week prep conference because I played in it many moons ago....But, I traveled to Hunington (sp) three times to watch him play and he would have been a beast in any division of prep football...The kid is a player and has a motor that is undescribable...Folks in carroll, stewart, houston, and dekalb county say that he is the next Al Wilson....Have to wait and see I guess

I wasn't saying he wouldn't have been great in another class. I only meant that I didn't expect him to be able to adjust to the speed of the college game as much as others.

Chris Donald played 2a football in West Tennessee. That's probably one of the weakest sectors of Tennessee football. I hope Donald ends up being a stud here at Tennessee but I didn't expect anything out of him this year except maybe some speacial teams PT.

That's asinine. Traditionally, I'd say it's quite strong; this year may be another story, but is the exception that proves the rule.

Teams like Milan, Huntingdon, Martin Westview...
Players like Chad Clifton, Ernest Fields (semi-old school), Tim Priest (old school), Justin Harrell, Will Ofenheusle, and now, Chris Donald (give him time).

Chris Donald (give him time).

Just how much time are we supposed to give this kid? I'm not so sure he's big enough to excel at the DE position if they do decide to leave him there, but I do think he has great potential at LB.

He's not playing because there are people in front of better than he is right now. My guess he will be red shirted. Hopefully his career will not follow another 5-star West Tennessean (Daniel Brooks).

No it's not asinine, I didn't say that there hasn't been good players come from the area. I said it isn't as strong as other parts of the state which it isn't.

Traditionally? The past has nothing to do with the talent that Chris Donald played against which isn't at the level as other parts of the state.

I was just trying to say that Donald played against a lower level of competition than most of the recruits we signed which is true.

For instance, look at the tough teams he played: Westview, Camden, Milan
vs Chris Walker's competition: MBA, Brentwood Academy, Melrose, McCallie, MUS, Father Ryan

Yeah, and while you are at it, look at LaDanian Tomlinson's competition in college: UTEP, Rice, SMU, and Tulsa
vs Ron Dayne's: Ohio St., Michigan, Penn St., Michigan St.

so what i am saying, it doesn't matter til they get on the field.

Amen....Chris Donald is going to be a stud at UT....Hope he plays Middle LB next year, then you will see what the hype is all about chavisut....I am telling you that alot of really knowledgable football fans in that area call him the second coming of Al Wilson....He will shine!!!

It is easier to figure out the level of football knowledge posters have when they comment on Karl. The posters that talk about how much he sucks shows off that they dont know too much about football. He is a good LB. He was not playing well early in the season because of his back and ankle injury. Since he has been healthy, he has been very very good.

What are you talking about, I'm not saying Chris Donald will not be a great player. I've seen his highlight film and he was a beast and he did pretty good at the AA game. I'm just saying that he probably is having a harder time adjusting to college because of the level he played at.

Ok look, I never said Chris Donald will not be good. Trust me, I was hoping to get this guy all season and I followed his recruitment. I think he WILL be good here. I was only saying he didn't play very tough competition so I figured it would take him longer to adjust to college football. Where did I ever say he is going to be a bust? Donald has not and will not see the field this year, we heard absolutely nothing about him in the preseason so I think its fair to say he probably had a tougher time adjusting IMO. Once again, I never said I didn't believe he will be great at UT. I really hope he is.

I see your point now, but when a kid is leaps and bounds ahead of every other athlete on the field, you know he'll be something special.

I'm sure "lower levels of competition" is why Fulmer wouldn't gamble on Patrick Willis. Look where HE is now.

Granted, I'm not saying Donald will win the Butkus and lead the NFL in tackles his rookie year, but I think once he settles in (gets used to the speed, as you mentioned), we'll be pleased with his performance.

that's entirely possible, but I don't really see where you are coming from with your comparison, hence mine. Chris Walker has played as many snaps this year as Chris Donald.

Has Donald been on the field? I don't think he has.

Walker has had some snaps in junk time this year

Donald hasnt been on the field yet this year...hence....redshirt....

Donald is a great LB thats where they need to leave him....next year you are going to have ben martin, gerald williams and rae sykes at DE....I am hoping to see Donald, Mccoy and Mayo as LB's...be a good group IMO....from what i hear Gerald Williams and Rae Sykes if they can make the grades to get in will bring some serious force to line...(which it needs)....

Our D has been kicked around this year but guess who going to do the kicking next year?
