Why is there such a quarrel with Christianity today?

You antagonized me by claiming denominations are created based on the color of carpet. My comments were in no way antagonizing. It's a simple fact.

you are barking at the wrong poster....I never said anything about carpet.......cool down and get your "facts" straight...... it Friday, chill

Some days are better than other. Still very ill but is turning the corner. She's regained enough strength to go shopping with me and make it back. I don't allow her out by herself though.
I'll tell her you asked.
Thanks.

I pray for her and her doctors, as well as you and the boys.......you guys should come see us down here in the FL sun.....we have plenty of room.....

This is so foreign to me. I don't think I've ever had an overwhelming urge to drink (and this is coming from a guy who is in a bar 2-3 times a week).

I think it comes down to body chemistry. A lot of alcoholics on my mothers side. None on my fathers side. ( mouth watering just thinking about it) anybody ever drink New Castle beer? I would beat you near death for 6....8.....some of them.

Christians proving bible truths.

As I said before, this is where you lose me. Since it seems to be the crux of your explanation, I would like to understand it.

I am then going to focus on answering this question.
I stated that it would be logically impossible for God to create a world where love was real (authentic, of one's own will, reciprocal), and yet could not also be rejected or refused. Keep in mind, we aren't talking about mandatory servitude or worship, we are simply talking about love. As I mentioned, God is not going to force someone to spend eternity with Him.

If God forced us to love him, then it is no longer love. You are no longer you, and the question is moot. I used the analogy of pursuing someone. If you truly love someone (who doesn't share your feelings) you would let them go their own way.

I remember someone setting me up on a blind date in college. We went on the date, nice person, attractive, had a great time, but, I never called the girl back. My friend was upset and asked why didn't you call them for another date, you guys are perfect for each other. I said, "You set me up on a date. I went out of respect for you. You never asked me if I WANTED to be in a relationship."

If you say God COULD do it differently (which you claim), then the burden shifts to you. You are making a claim, substantiate it.

Here is the harsh reality. Just because you don't like a world where God created people He knew would go to Hell, doesn't it make it wrong, or not true. Is it difficult? Yes. Do you think I like the idea of Hell? No. Even if Hell is temporary, I don't like it. But, I am confident in my years of walking with the Lord that He will not arbitrarily send good people to an eternal torment.

If the totality of the bible is true then Jesus Christ is the expression of God's love. Don't like the old testament? Ok. Have a problem with a talking donkey or a fish swallowing a person and spitting him out alive? Whatever. Don't think God should flood the world? fine. But if Jesus Christ rose from the dead, and He did, then God does love and desire that all come to repentance and be saved. If someone is rejecting the resurrection of Christ, they are rejecting love itself. They need to repent (abandon their wrong thinking).

Christians are *******s, therefore Jesus didn't rise from the dead.

Christians disagree, therefore Jesus didn't rise from the dead.

Wtf are you talking about? I've not made that argument. Nor was I trying to claim that. I was simply responding to someone's claim that the bible was very clear on everything.

I agree on the body chemistry/wiring of your brain.

I've had Newcastle. I enjoy it. I'm find with a beer an hour though. For me, it is diminishing return.

Over 7 years sober and I don't have a single day where I don't want to drink. I managed that 7+ years because I'm a major Ahole when I drink. And Red deserves better. I don't judge those who can't quit because their addiction could be a lot stronger than mine. About 3 years ago my 1st cousin Todd died from liver failure. He literally drank himself to death. It's a terrible thing to have something in your life you just can't beat.

Congrats, but sorry for your loss. Stay strong Slice!

Slice, are you of Jewish decent also? Or only religion?

Both, sort of. I claim them but I don't think they'd completely claim me. Im a mud blood
Jewish on my Dads side. Many of them practice Judaism. My Mothers side tends to be baptist and Methodist.
I believed neither till about 30 years old. Now at 47 I believe both. Sort of.

I imagine non-ethnic Jew converts are rare? Is that accurate?

This is crap. The reason there are many denominations is the interpretation of scripture. If the entirety of the Bible was to be interpreted literally, there would be one denomination (assuming one accepts this or God dictated such). Once that standard is gone, fractures within the Church over interpretation is soon to follow.

There are many people in our church that disagree on several points of theology, yet choose to worship together in unity. There are many, many people that I know that agree with me theologically as best as we can tell that do not go to our church, or one anothers' churches. And for that matter, I don't care what their theology was, I would not go to the church above (youtube video I linked) simply due to worship style.

If you'll reread my post, you'll notice that I agreed that there are points of disagreement, as well as vague parts of the Bible. And one of my main points was that there were fractures over theology. So what, exactly, was crap?

To Judaism, It's not something you see a lot of. You do see more of the feasts added by Christians though. I would say that those Christians that go Messianic are still Christians. And that movement is seeing a lot of growth. I brought Red on board so that's 1 I know for sure lol
