If you expect us to compete for an SEC championship NEXT year, IMO, we need to beat the teams we're supposed to beat THIS year. If we lose to UF again, who's going through a QB carousel and a new coaching staff, then we're the same team we were the previous two years of our current regime.
Secondly, competing and fighting for 4 quarters is a phrase for underachievers. We're past that phase. The program is heading in a nice direction, but if Butch doesn't pull this one off, there's gonna be some rumbling.
It's not a carousel, they have settled on Grier.
This is definitely a game we "should" win. I completely agree with that.
Unlike many, I don't see this as a disaster if we lose. It will be bad, it will be a big setback, but Butch will still have plenty of time to turn it around. I am willing to go down with the Butch Jones ship.
Next year a loss in a game like this will be completely unacceptable. This year it's just really bad.
In the (I think unlikely) event we lose, we will have another 8 games this season and Butch (short of having a 4-8 record this year) will have a whole other season to make it right.
