Why is Dale Jones Never Mentioned....

Volnation eats their own. Why would any VFL put his legacy at risk is beyond me. Read any Tee, Graham, Chuck Smith or Terry Fair threads and get back to me. Or John Majors or Phil Fulmer. We always kick them to the curb unceremoniously in the end. Always.
Cry me a river
They didn't do their job but apparently they're immune to criticism or being removed.

Dumbest mentality there is

I’m 62 and been in Neyland Stadium since 1967. Worked in stadium as a youngster, went to school there, and had season tickets for 33 years (until health kept me from attending). I have supported the team with my fan support and financial support. Yet I’m not blinded by my orange colored gl asses enough to realize that a VFL tag is not a great “coach in waiting”, SONNY! News alert SONNY, Peyton has no desire to coach, but fans like you bring his name up daily for positions. Let’s allow our team to move into 2021 with a new coaching staff and hopefully a new result than the past 13 years, SONNY!
You don't understand good. I wasn't campaigning for Dale. I was only asking why with his credentials he was never considered. You jumped me for that. Nor was I campaigning for Peyton. I only asked if you would accept him if he wanted to coach for a while.

So even if they do a poor job they're above criticism?

Dale Jones would be an absolute great hire!!! Not to mention he is a Tennessee guy and an one of the all-time greats at LB. He would be an outstanding hire and bring Coach Nunn with him to coach LB’s.

Again, the criticism is given. The question is why would they come? And why should Vol fans expect them to?

I'm going by memory and could be wrong but I believe he was a walk on.
I'm pretty sure he wasn't a walk on...I was going to UT at the time he was there and remember him living at the athletic dorm...Don't believe walk on's live there.

No DC experience.
App State LB Coach.
But could help recruit Carolina.
knows our program and loves it.
most importantly, he would say Yes.
He has been DC at App State two or three times and is the current DC

.....when a defensive coach or coordinator is needed? He has a stellar resume, as a walk-on he made one of the most memorable plays in Tennessee history and I'm sure most Vol fans would welcome him with open arms.

"I seen it was a read screen"and Shula threw it right to me and I somehow fell on the ball.

That’s the Tennessee fan base frame of mind. He made an interception against Bama in 1985 so this makes him the greatest coach in waiting ever in 2021, REALLY. This is the exact training of thought that has allowed us to go through this same scenario 5 times in 13 years.
Great post!! Had a conversation the other day about why Tee Martin wasn’t named the OC. I just asked, if he had gone 6-6 in 1998 would you still want him as an OC? Probably Not. No reason to hire someone because of what they did on a FB field 20+ years ago

Who knows? Perhaps he has been asked, and they are holding off on announcing. And all those who are being mentioned and have turned it down are a smoke screen.
