Why is Antifa tolerated? Because they're left wing?

Problem is Antifa is becoming increasingly more violent in their approach. At some point push will come to shove and the gloves come off. Can’t get prosecutors to level serious prison time as it is for all the felony assaults Antifa is piling up.
so we can't get one part of the government to do its job, and instead of fixing that one problem, we are going to create another problem while ignoring the first?

and my point is that the general public never comes out better when the government has the ability to give itself more power to enforce whatever it wants.

the constitution is a limit on the government, and they need to be reminded of that.
They always need to be reminded of that, no matter who is in power. The federal government has been too big, too bloated, too powerful, and too expensive for about a hundred years now.

No, I would much prefer prosecutors and judges not be swayed by their preferred political compass, do their job and enforce the laws and stiff sentences accordingly in these matters. What’s the solution if they show a continued trend of not doing so?

fix it somehow, some way.

change the laws requiring punishments.

maybe put a limit on how long they can hold the position, or more restrictions on who is eligible. maybe tie them keeping their jobs to the overall performance. I have no idea what that metric actually looks like.

or go all LG on them, and hold the prosecutors responsible for the crime of others.

remember the victims largely vote for this, with a lot of the problem in the system either being directly voted for, or those who appoint them are directly voted for. at some point you have to stop trying to fix it, and respect the votes. otherwise just give up on the idea of voting as a viable option in government like I have. until such time, they have the right to be wrong.

Yeah, it's not going to get better no matter which party is in control.
yes, but that doesn't mean we should accept one side doing bad crap because the other side does bad crap.

you are partially responsible for who you vote for, and what they do. especially if you continue to support them. and considering how long the parties have been acting against our best interest, you are responsible for continuing to support parties that have a clearly demonstrated history of not being what you claim to vote for.

My point is that’s exactly how the gloves eventually come off….when nothing changes and there’s no effort to seriously protect the public from a group like Antifa via our legal/court system. It’s the default option whether we like it or not. Then we get Trump sending in the National Guard.

when the public who needs protecting are the ones voting for the mess you are never going to fix it.

the national guard aren't going to fix the underlying problem. they are only going to create new problems. larger problems. more violent problems.

the national guard is not a reasonable response to what the AG or local prosecutors are doing. it doesn't make sense.

send in federal prosecutors if the locals aren't doing their job. that would at least make conceptual sense. still a violation of states rights, but at least its oranges to oranges.

Understand all that and I think you and I come from the same place wrt frustration in dealing with this. Not saying it’s right, but just pointing out the natural consequence of what happens when things hit a tipping point.

and the reaction can cause an even worse tipping point.

the national guard shooting up the public isn't going to popular with most people in America. regardless of them being in Chicago or their thoughts on crime. Whoever is behind turning a city into a literal war zone is going to face a much different reaction than the gradual decline that created the mess.

generally not a fan of this use of the NG but to backup 737's point - maybe a short term intervention will yield enough short term results that citizens will see what's possible if L&O is upheld and take action to solve the prosecution problem.

NG is certainly not a long term solution.

I think that in a lot of these cities the people are so brain washed that it would backfire and the typical L&O citizen will be out rioting.

And I’m not advocating the use of the NG as a first or second response. I’m just saying these are the likely responses by either Trump or some other president/governor down the road when they feel nothing else is working. The tipping point comes when it appears the likes of Antifa or other group has escalated the violence to the point where any and all leaders and law enforcement are afraid to face them with their hands tied behind their backs. The natural human response at some point will be to take the gloves off if that means protecting the majority.

Agreed. These judges are lifetime appointments. Antifa normally creates their chaos in OR/WA where the 9th Circuit reigns with their lunatic judges.

I would think that at least half the people in DC are there because they work for the federal government or government contractors so a lot of them have no sentiment for DC. A Chicagoan born and raised is a different story.
I asked what does it do? You said “It does”. So I’m asking what “it” does.

Alright, then what are you going to do? right now you have to pick the lesser of two evils. I vote republican because the dems have been totally bat sh!t crazy and bigger government for years now....well over half my life they have been this way. The re"pube"licans have plenty of faults of their own, of course. The effing Patriot Act for example. Go ahead and start a truly constitutional party, then watch in close vote areas as the lesser of the evils get trounced and the dems have control of the house, senate, and white house for years to come. Then we are really screwed. You'll have open borders for more years than 4 then. The answer is to primary non constitutional republicans, particularly in areas where you are assured of victory in more solid red areas. Over the years that can spread. JMO though. It's all one big sh!t sandwich, and we all have to take a bite.
