Read the posts from Deerpark12. I was asking about why Fulmer would not consider Freeze and he provided the history there. That’s my source.Just stop it...there was not a single accusation against Freeze at Briarcrest until after he was fired by Ole Miss in 2017. The school officials have even said there was no accusations made by anyone.
Oh, don’t you worry. UT has possibly the most loyal fanbase in the country with the exception of South Carolina. They will give their all for their team no matter how s**** things get, and the atheltic department will collect the funds and keep the status quo.Why do so many fans have to be fair weather fans and only support a program when they are winning? I think if you are a VFL you will support this team and program no matter how many games they win.
WTF are you talking about? UT has the most loyal fanbase in college football. 90k plus still pack the stadium after 12 years of suck, you see people wearing swag all over the world and the most telling sign of how great this fanbase is is that we still care. We still care after the administration has shown they DGAF about championship level football, we still care even though there is no sign of hope for better days, we still care even though we KNOW a POS Gump will still be driving our beloved football program off the cliff next season.
GTF out of here with this "fair weather fan" bull! Few fan bases remain as loyal and caring as ours after over a decade of being fed crap.
The top 6 high school players from this state just shunned usDude, I'm not being defeatist, just stating the truth. We were great in a completely different ERA. Alabama was beatable for awhile there, but they won the conference once during that era anyway. UF was our nemesis and we owned UGA, always finding a way to barely win. The SEC has been ruined by Sabin's success. If you can't beat him you will be fired. If you can beat him, you may still be fired. Malzahn beat him 3 times! We play them and don't even have to, so however many games we play, we start every single year with a loss that also contributes to other losses because of the injuries caused by said juggernaut. No shame in that as everybody else can pretty much say same, but every potential coach also sees this and probably thinks no way in hell am I interested in a job where there are 3 or 4 guaranteed losses the first few years and our fan base! The other thing about Bama is the top recruits from outside a school's sphere of influence will go to another conference if they can't go to Bama because they want to be in the CPF. Ohio State, Clemson, Big 12 schools, even Pac 12. LSU has a lot of fans who become players and they happen to be great athletes. Florida has the same setup. We don't have squat as we've been losers to an entire generation. Our row to hoe is much tougher than other traditionally powerhouse schools at this current point in history. We're just going to have to be patient and give Pruitt or the next guy a longer time period. Fire Pruitt, hire somebody else, but if we do hire a big name and pay him 10 million a year and we're 8-5 most season's, then what? I don't want to be right, I want a Natty, but that Natty really set the bar high. Thing's will change and it's really gonna suck if we keep up this cycle with coaches. We will never be in a position to beat UF or UGA until we have a veteran coach and they get another rookie. It will happen, and it will happen because their fans are just like ours. In their case it will be the next level argument...can't wait for us to get there...looking like my life will be over by then.

As I've said elsewhere, the program is leaning toward becoming Missouri....... just happy to be in the SEC, collecting a nice check, not sucking too bad/not achieving that much, a mid-level P5 school that has a "good year or two" every now and then. Why do so many fans have to be fair weather fans and only support a program when they are winning? That’s cute that you believe we’re relevant enough to troll. That’s like trolling Vandy now.I agree with Pulaski.
There are days where I'd guesstimate the troll-to-real-Vol-fan ratio as high as 1:1 (50%). It's probably not really that high, just feels that way frequently. But whatever the actual ratio is, we know for a fact we have a lot of them.
Having said that, there are actual Vols fair-weather fans. I don't know why. It makes no sense to me. The only thing I can figure is that they dont really care about the program so much as they care about themselves and their fan pride (ability to talk smack around the water cooler at work, or even just the dopamine hits that come with winning). Since their loyalty is to themselves rather than the team, they'll turn as soon as the rewards stop flowing.
Sad reality that there are more than one or two of these in Volunteer country.
p.s. Not talking about nega-Vols. They remain faithful to the team even as they gripe and moan. By fair weather, I actually mean those who go off and start cheering for some other team, and won't come back until Tennessee is playing well again. IDK if that's how you meant it, OP, but that's the version I was talking about.
p.p.s. Here's what I mean, separating those groups:

It's been 12+ years since we've done anything of relevance and honestly it's getting extremely old watching us look like a high school team. Why do so many fans have to be fair weather fans and only support a program when they are winning? I think if you are a VFL you will support this team and program no matter how many games they win.
