Why dont fans support this program no matter how bad the times get?

We aren't just fans. We are also customers and customers do not want to invest in a bad product. You can call it fair weather all you want but if I'm not getting a return on my investment, whether it be financial investment, emotional investment, or investment of my time I'm not going to continue to invest. That's just common sense. IMO, it's the "die hards" that are the morons. The ones who are there no matter what. What exactly do you get out of watching us get our teeth kicked in every week? Do you get some kind of merit badge for enduring the abuse? Is it really worth it to you, to just be able to say "I WAS WITH THEM THE WHOLE WAY! THROUGH THE GOOD AND THE BAD!" Well good for you! Is the university going to reward you for that unconditional loyalty in some way? Are you getting free season tickets or free merch? Otherwise, I don't see the nobility in wasting your time on something that doesn't produce anything in return. Fans who walk away from a bad product, I don't see that as fair weather at all. I see it as common sense.
Then f'ing just quit em. Today's society of panty waste loves to be a quitter so just quit them. You acting like your emotional investment means something, lol.

I've got a friend I graduated high school with who is a huge Alabama fan and despises TN. He is a member of the VN forum for years, posts under a Vols moniker and is only on here to push buttons and antagonize Vol fans. He gets a kick out of it and he's the reason I feel many of our NegaVol fans aren't really Vol fans here on VN. I'd let you know who he is but he won't tell me the name he goes by here. Coincidentally he knew Coach Pruitt back in his days at MTSU and played a bunch of pick up basketball with him at the time. Said Pruitt was always looking to pick a fight back then.
Yeah, I know a couple of those. One's a bammer and the other is gator. They both really need to get lives.

Reading through this thread, it strikes me that a lot of the folks that consider themselves "VFLs" and the rest of us "NegaVols" seem to view fandom as a job, a requirement, something they MUST do. In that context, if your job sucks, but your family depends on you, you suck it up and keep plowing ahead. So, if that's the way you view being a fan of Tennessee football, I can see that perspective.

However, call it age and wisdom, call it perspective, call it 15 years of amazingly stupid moves by the UT power structure, but for many of us, Tennessee football has assumed its rightful place. It's a passtime, it's a hobby, maybe even a passion, but it's not a REQUIREMENT. In that context, if it stinks enough for long enough, you find yourself just allowing it to drop in priority, And our comments will reflect that. I can't ever see myself 'adopting' another team, I'm Tennessee to the core, but my desire to watch a disinterested team, coach, and admin get its teeth kicked in week after week is dropping pretty quickly.

Just my observation.

There it is...

Why do so many fans have to be fair weather fans and only support a program when they are winning? I think if you are a VFL you will support this team and program no matter how many games they win.

Shut the F up! The problem is they're NOT winning! The fact there still is a fanbase after 15 pathetic years is amazing!

Reading threads on this site is way more enjoyable than watching UT play. The series of abortions in the administration and the coaching staff have proven they aren't worth my time. Sad part is now I just don't really care much about football.

AGREED

def spend more time here than watching the product on the field

I think people state an opinion or have a personal affinity for players or coaches and that clouds their judgment. I like to look at the tape and let the facts decide.
For example JG has obvious weaknesses and they haven’t gotten better, in fact he has developed a habit for catastrophic turnovers.
As far as JTS and BM, JTS big arm and little football acumen, BM I see the potential but he is an enigma and is as scary as he is exciting. Football coaches look to the next game and the future. At this point let’s see what HB can do.
I'll just repeat what I said in numerous arguments with k-town and Pulaski before the season. UT needs MUCH better QB play than they got from anyone in the 3 years prior to this year... and I really don't care who it comes from. I didn't think it would come from JG at that point. I think most people are convinced it won't come from him now.

I hate the "classifications" of fandom. Short of a handful of trolls, I believe the vast majority here are definitely Vol fans, we just differ on our methods of expression. Your last sentence accurately describes me after almost 50 years of watching the only "favorite team" I'll ever have..

Why not, what's your complaining accomplishing?

Then f'ing just quit em. Today's society of panty waste loves to be a quitter so just quit them. You acting like your emotional investment means something, lol.
Remarkable. You have no self-awareness. You lecture one person that they shouldn't "complain" when a high standard isn't being met... then accuse someone else of being a quitter.

If you don't support a higher standard... then YOU have already quit. The "panty waste" comment... apropos.... for you.

Question, did noggin ever show back up after the OP or is he one of Freak's paid operatives that generates traffic by starting "hot button" threads?

@Freak I kid sir, I kid.....

I would say if you are happy with the current state of Tennessee football, then you aren't supporting the program. Wanting to win and have competent coach means you don't support the program? Stop with this loser mentality

Once again, I don't mind folks upset and even complaining a bit, hell I'm upset and complain a bunch. Anything done in excess often goes bad and this forum is whining, crying and moaning in excess. As for my standard it's no different than yours on here, I pick and choose when I want to get involved.

I don't personally judge anyone for being a NegaVol at this point. It's hard as a fan to take Tennessee football seriously anymore, especially after the UT administration doesn't seem to care or take it seriously themselves. They have made terrible decision after terrible decision for almost 15 years now. Tennessee is a top 10 program on paper and they refuse to open up the pocket book for a real coach. Don't get me wrong, I love Tennessee football and will always support, but we as fans aren't getting the product that we deserve. We've been patient and been supportive through 14 years of crappy football and bad decision making.

Funny, I've never mentioned your moniker once yet you seem to love posting mine. How many times is that now, gotta be 10 or more. Kinda weird I think.

Sorry, I didn't feel like going back and finding your post where you stated that you choose to hang out with douchecanoes.
