Why does Peyton not like Tee?

Completely different situations like mentioned above. Also at least Lincoln had 6 years as an OC. Tee has had 2 and it’s not like his offenses have set the world on fire. In fact, their fans have been complaining about them and got to the point Darnold criticized it too. If this were a blind test and coaching resumes were compared, there would be widespread outrage that someone w his coaching resume was made our head coach.

Just to come to Tee's defense, they do have the number 4 defense in the country AND their offense sucked at the beginning of the season then it improved. That in and of itself speaks highly to a coach's ability to see the problems and fix them.

So Alabama made a mistake taking Saban?

So Clemson made a mistake taking Swinney?

So Texas A&M is making a mistake taking Jimbo Fisher?

So UCLA is making a mistake taking Chip Kelly?

So Florida is making a mistake taking Dan Mullen?

None of these are former players at the schools they are now coaching at.

Schools that want to win - go for the best coach. They don't put blinders on and only look at former players.

Uhm, I'm sorry, did you not read the last part of what I said? I'm pretty sure I clearly said they should hire Tee ONLY if the others say NO.

Also, it's not like Tee was number 1 on everyone's list at the beginning. I'm not sure what coaching search you've been watching, but clearly every fan wanted the huge names, I can't speak for the administration on that front, but again we were all calling for big names. I mean we had a guy camping out an airplane to see if Gruden was getting out of it! So this list you just gave me really proves nothing. If we weren't in the fiasco we're in now, Tee wouldn't even be considered.

The question is who fixed it - the OC or the HC who was the former OC stepping in and taking more control.

That is the question that needs to be vetted IMO.

Ive heard he is a jerk in real life.

Yes, the Mannings are all real jerks who run cover by:
Donating to their universities
Creating and funding academic schlorships
Donating time to charities
Creating charities in their NFL cities
Show a history of a close loving family (books, 30 on 30 etc)
Peyton does work for hospitals

Real jerks alright, you see right thru them...:hi:

100% agree with you, but I will say that his coach came out saying he is absolutely ready to take the reigns of a program. But you are absolutely, 100% correct there. If it turns out it wasn't him, then yes he needs to be reconsidered.

I really don't get all this.

Peyton from the day he graduated until now has always been a large part of UT. He comes back for games. He has visited the team ... many times throughout the years ... like many VFLs. He is a donor. He established a scholarship ... etc. etc. etc.

Tee Martin - not so much - yet we have this group of fans, VFL's etc that want to act like Tee is the next coming of the greatest head coach without him ever proving he can actually perform at that level.

I don't get it. I really don't.

Not one comment on here suggesting that he's the greatest coach. How can you be picky at this point. I would support Tee 100% as he gave 100% to the Vols. The last 2 Turds that coached here had previous experience. How'd that turn out? I'm sure he knows he's inexperienced and would surround himself with a great staff and bring a little stability to this place. So yeah...you don't get it.

It was obvious Peyton was blocking Tee from even getting an interview from us. I had a guy tell me several years ago that Peyton did not like Tee and then I hear Bassilio say that they've not liked each other since college. So that begs the question:

1) Is Peyton jealous?
2) Did Tee bang his wife?
3) Or does Peyton have no issue with Tee but just didn't think he was not qualified?

The better question would be "Why does Volnation let people like you make up a bunch of ridiculousness and get people to start responding with insults to either person"? I would like to see Freak start with a two week ban on you for trying to start a controversy between two VFL legends.

I like Tee Martin. He led us to the only NC many on this forum have ever seen. Other than his, it's been since 1967. He beat Fla. when others could not.

That being said, he is not ready. Just because he won a NC does not make him qualified to be a HC. Hopefully he can come home to be OC and in a few years be ready to take over. We need to think outside the norm similar to Az. St. and get an experienced HC to lead. Not saying I want Herm Edwards, I don't, but it was an unusual choice that may pay off.

Peyton is a narcissist, you don't get where he is without being one. Thus, if anyone can take some his thunder, he would absolutely be against that.

I smell a poser...who is your real team???

don't fall for this **** guys. Opposing fans come on here and try to divide us. This is probably a bammer.

Dear Lord Tee scored an 11 out of 50 on the NFL Wonderlic Test. That is listed as “literate” which requires a 10. I think a 20 corresponds to a 100 IQ?

Scott Frost scored a 38; Dan Marino a 16; Tee Martin an 11 - Which guy has the cred to coach? Frost and why he's been a HC

I like Tee but he is not HC material

FYI - The Wonderlic Cognitive Ability test was created in 1936, and designed to measure an individual's general cognitive ability. Today, the test is often given to prospective employees in order to evaluate their learning and problem-solving skills.

This has been reported all week...hardly would be considered "ridiculousness" at all. No need to be a complete douche about it!

Where has it been reported that Manning has anything personal against Tee Martin?

Stop being Cocke County hillbillies and assaulting the guy's intelligence - it just shows your lack of intelligence.

Tee seems to be ready to continue as an OC; Get him to Knoxville and work/mold him for future greatest if this is what you believe

I think Peyton thinks like me, Tee isn't ready. He's been an OC for 2 years.

Give me one reason OTHER THAN BEING A VFL that qualifies him to be our HC? Let's see how stats compared to the next candidate

Give me one good reason OTHER THAN BEING A VFL why Peyton is qualified to choose our next HC?

Oh-oh.

Tee won with the talent that came to play with Peyton. I think this Peyton doesn't like him thing is over blown....I don't think Tee is the guy we need to lead us.....Love to have him as an OC.....but not quite yet as a coach.

He knows more about football than everyone else in the room, any room? Maybe that?

Plus he's supported Tennessee when it hasn't been cool to be seen on the sidelines.

Tee isn't ready. Manning had been around enough coaches to know who's ready and who's not.

Yeah, but Ga Southern isn't Tennessee. See they hire football coaches based on merit and qualifications.

Facts are Tee played like crap the first half of the season in 98 but came around in the Ga game. The team won in spite of Tee until the Ga game. He also struggled in the Ark game but we know how that ended. In 1999, Tee played outstanding, frankly as good as any Tennessee about since but team was buried in jealousy and future plans.

I seem to recall Tee breaking a 50 yard run against Syracuse that was a factor in our win

some people don't do well on standardized tests. I would think a good HC lets the coordinators make the assignments and call the plays while the head coach makes the decisions like when to go for it on 4th, FG attempt vs. pooch punt when close the kicker's range limit, or attempting an onside kick.

Agreed. Which is why I opted to go the eportfolio rout instead of an exam when I graduated from UTK.
