Why does it matter if we fire him now?

In your opinion, why is it imperative that we fire Butch immediately (during the season) as opposed to the end of the year? In other words, what does Tennessee gain in that scenario?

Let's just say I'm curious for research purposes.

Discuss.

Didnt LSU play harder for Orgeron when he took interim?
That might be the answer but i just hope we dont do what they and Missouri did and actually hire the interim

The head start UF just got on us for a better replacement. Recruiting, and cause he don't deserve to coach this team. Sanity

Because if we want a top coach we need to strike first to get him!
Once a half dozen more coaches get fired, we will have to settle for Butch or Dooley 2.0!!

1.) it's a statement from our new AD that this product is not acceptable
2.) we don't fall as far behind other teams in the coaching search
3.) head start on recruiting
4.) Florida did it
5.) it would make me feel a little bit better

So you think it gives us a better chance to win more games down the stretch with an assistant coach at the helm?

Yep, finished the season 6-2, on a much more positive note, scored Coach O the gig.

Hahahaha! Your response was identical to mine but in slightly different words! 😆 I think it's a pretty sound argument

It doesn't matter.

Far more important to take our time and see where we're at around Thanksgiving.

Losing part of one recruiting class is far less important than getting the right guy into the job.

You don't think Tennessee is working on a replacement already? What limitations do we have, whether he's still here or not?

You think recruiting improves with a vacant head coaching position?

It doesn't. Actually better for the new guy if Butch and the staff remain engaged until we can actually hire a replacement.

So you think we get a better replacement if we fire Butch sooner? Why?

So we know it's real and that their isn't any chance he keeps his. Just because of the reports that said Currie doesn't want to have to fire his coach his first year as ad.

I think it would stop people from decommiting at the least seeing as how nobody wants to play for him it seems

I do not look at this year. I take the rest of this season as gone. Forgone conclusion to what will likely be the worst record in the history of UT Football.

I see an in-season termination and naming head coach as a means to:

1. Get a new coach time to rebuild relationships with what was an incredible recruiting class.

2. Give the new coach an opportunity to take advantage of the early decision process in December.

So, I don’t think you do it now to save this season, but instead to build back the recruiting class for the next year.

Definitely recruiting now more than ever. The class has already been leaking our best prospects since the season started. Also this is the first year with the early enrollee period if I recall correctly. Wait too long and some prospects won't flat out be available.

1. If the statement comes in a few weeks, is the message any different?
2. So you don't believe the search is already in process?
3. How? A new hire wouldn't be announced during the season.

Might put the recruits in a wait and see status, as opposed to just fleeing the shinking ship. Would also calm the fan base down a little, imo.
