WTF on the play calling the last minute of regulation! WTF on #4 on D! WTF on these pathetic dip 💩 refs!!!!
Game is a blur honestly but didn’t Hooker have an open man twice at end of game. Absolutely agree we could’ve probably got into Fg range easier and managed time better.

Burrell is terrible but some PIs were trash calls as well.

Tennessee lost because of a combination of all of the above (except "Music City Bowl bad mojo"...that was funny, though). One play never defines a game. However, people who say "one play never defines a game," in the context of another person complaining about a bad call are either missing the point or just throwing up a red herring. If I complain about a bad call after the game, and someone responds with "Well, you can't blame the loss on one call when they had lots of opportunities to win the game," that is fallacious thinking. It is an example of "whataboutism." It is avoiding the topic at hand by raising a different topic. Complaining about a call and pointing out blown opportunities are two different topics. Bringing up other plays is merely a distraction towards the bad call. It should be acknowledged that the call was blown and it was devastating towards Tennessee's odds to win the game at that particular time. What happened before the call is irrelevant to how bad the call was. It was an atrocious call, one of the worst I have ever seen as a UT fan.

Very well said. No matter how we got to that last 4th down in OT, the officials' call was still wrong, and ultimately was the final deciding factor for our offense.

I agree. It’s a game of inches. That was a touchdown. Bottom line.

Agree. Whataboutism is also known as "straw man" arguments. Rather than counter the argument in question, the person props up a "straw man" to knock over, trying to look like they have won the argument.

Taylor opting out weeks ago is a good place to start. Him on the field takes away the no wrap up TD, plus bring more corner blitz’s against a slow QB. Excessive Tennessee PI and selective Purdue PI calls also worth a mention.

Refs have been allowing offensive lineman to continue to "push" the RBs all year. It was a new emphasis.

In OT, all of a sudden, they are gonna blow a whistle, or thought that the whistle should be blown, before the whistle even sounded,,,,, is just more BS.
I agree that there were many questionable play calls and penalty calls before this but damn.
How do you stop a play like that? It just seems that the last time all year that a "forward progress was stopped" play was called was against us vs Ole Miss, when we returned a QB fumble for a touchdown!!!
BS,,,,,,

Go VOLS!!!!

It's all the above; but the play calling and clock management at the end of regulation was mind-boggling.

The offensive play calling resulted in 51 points, -6 for the officials not giving us a TD on a play where our guy crossed the goalline without touching the ground, before the whistle blew. Hooker had almost 400 yards, 5tds, no ints and we had a back tied for 2nd in school history in rushing yards during a bowl game with almost 200. The offensive playcalling was fine and worked. We failed to execute a few times during the 2nd quarter.

It's basically impossible to expect an offense to have to play better than setting multiple offensive bowl game records to win a bowl game. This game was on the D and officials.

Huepel needs to learn the value of a field goal once in a while instead of 4th and out
Either Wright scores or Fant gets flagged for pulling then Huepel definitely kicks a FG at 4th and goal from the 8.

If hooker is accurate or the refs call PI it's a TD or makeable FG and we're celebrating.

Porous defense and refs with a little bit of bad play-calling. Didn’t get to watch the game. The game-thread told me so lol
