Every other team in the country seems to be able to handle this process quickly and efficiently, but every coaching hire here turns into a drawn out circus. I know reports are out that Pruitt has his guy, but all of this reeks of interference from somewhere....Fulmer, Boyd, Haslam, BOT, somebody. Pruitt likely knew of Helton's departure for months and it sounded like he had a short list very quickly. I know that everybody is coming out and saying this is Pruitt's decision, but I'm not buying it. Someone has to be interfering and I'm raising the question of who? My personal opinion is Fulmer but that is just tea leaf reading.
That would certainly be a valid reason but would an OC for a playoff team take a step down to be at UT? It would most likely be a position coach and I don’t think a promotion would be a distraction
I don't necessarily think it's even about discord. Either we've got our guy and were holding off for some reason or we don't have our guy because coaches are leery of hitching their career to a rebuild under an unproven coach.Exactly. Prospective OC's know how much we pay.
My theory is that due to the state of TN football right now, we've been turned down multiple times or there is discord within the AD.
