Why all the ammo purchases from govt agencies?

Appreciate that (though many would disagree :))

I don't know the motivation but I just don't buy the story. It would be like a local golf course stocking the range with Pro v1's. Just doesn't make sense.

My first thought is they're doing it to control the supply in the open market. Getting ammo right now is insane and even local police are reporting difficulties. It also falls in line with their efforts around gun control since you can't shoot without bullets

I will admit that the last decade of disappearing liberty doesn't allow me to completely dismiss any possibilities. I don't believe the brown shirts are marching down main street tomorrow but I also don't think anything is ever of the table. It's unfortunate IMO

OK. It seems its just a distrust of the official story rather than some real evidence of future brownshirts. I am sorry, but I distrust anyone with a profit motive when it comes to these stories and that includes the gubmint, bloggers, and most especially any talk radio/TV personality.

To me, I would be pissed if the DHS (or any agency responsible for spending my money) did NOT pursue these long term contracts and so should you.

Part of the perception problem here is the 1.6B number is A) a maximum purchase quantity, not the minimum, and usually not the final purchased quantity. And B) its a multi-year contract. The number could have been portrayed as a maximum of 320M per year and it would not have had the same impact.

Some interesting data that I have not been able to find are:

How many rounds have actually been purchased and/or delivered to date?

How many rounds have historically been purchased by the agencies involved ?

Long time no see dude :hi:

I guess when they are screening peeps at a Football game they may need to take down some undesirables.

Honestly, can you imagine TSA officials with handguns in a crowded airport or wherever else they are?

Frightening.

Why does TSA need SigSauers? I don't think some of them even graduated High School, and were we're going to train and arm them?

If a high school diploma is a requirement to train to use a weapon, we might as well reinstate the draft, because a large number of soldiers will be ineligible.

I stand corrected. Opon some research, apparently 90% of all enlisted soldiers have at least a HS diploma.

Well, considering he has a link to the actual government website outlining the details of the request, I'd say it's safe to say he's not making anything up. Does anyone know why they would need this?

With little fanfare, the agency best known for airport screenings has vastly expanded its reach to sporting events, music festivals, rodeos, highway weigh stations and train terminals. Not everyone is happy.

if the TSA is going to start confronting citizens in public spaces they had better be armed
