Appreciate that (though many would disagree)
I don't know the motivation but I just don't buy the story. It would be like a local golf course stocking the range with Pro v1's. Just doesn't make sense.
My first thought is they're doing it to control the supply in the open market. Getting ammo right now is insane and even local police are reporting difficulties. It also falls in line with their efforts around gun control since you can't shoot without bullets
I will admit that the last decade of disappearing liberty doesn't allow me to completely dismiss any possibilities. I don't believe the brown shirts are marching down main street tomorrow but I also don't think anything is ever of the table. It's unfortunate IMO
OK. It seems its just a distrust of the official story rather than some real evidence of future brownshirts. I am sorry, but I distrust anyone with a profit motive when it comes to these stories and that includes the gubmint, bloggers, and most especially any talk radio/TV personality.
To me, I would be pissed if the DHS (or any agency responsible for spending my money) did NOT pursue these long term contracts and so should you.
Part of the perception problem here is the 1.6B number is A) a maximum purchase quantity, not the minimum, and usually not the final purchased quantity. And B) its a multi-year contract. The number could have been portrayed as a maximum of 320M per year and it would not have had the same impact.
Some interesting data that I have not been able to find are:
How many rounds have actually been purchased and/or delivered to date?
How many rounds have historically been purchased by the agencies involved ?
