Last I checked Debord is the only coach on this staff who has coached in and won a NC. I think Debord has tweaked Butch's offense and at times it looks very good. Can't quite figure why it was so slow out of thr gate early in the year. Unless UT can hire an OC who is proven and has the green light to run the show, then I say why bother.
Two thoughts come to my mind..
1. Still to predictable for my tastes.
2. Unwilling to take chances and 'go for the throat'.... IMO
Why do we need a new OC? Look at the offense after Hurd left.

2 thoughts come to mind for why we shouldn't change....
1. 36.4 points per game, 2nd in the SEC
2. If you don't like the offense as is, a new OC won't matter one iota, since this is Jones' offense
 Yup, you are.Because our offense has looked like a hot turd on too many occasions for Butch to just be "okay" with DeBord's performance unless he was essentially executing what Butch wants.
Listen to one Butch Jones press conference and then tell me that guy doesn't have his hand in every aspect of the team. Why do you think he hired an olympic swimming coordinator to run the offense instead of going out and hiring a brilliant offensive mind?
So, do I have any "evidence"? No, no smoking gun. But I think anyone who can evaluate Jones' ego and the DeBord hire can get a sense that he brought in someone who would run "his system" and not threaten his position.
Maybe I'm way off though.
Lack of deep throws too many screens and short passes and lack of getting playmaker in space and predictable overall jmo
1. We scored well but it still doesn't speak to my concerns..
2. Totally agree with you on this.. Butch would have to loosen his grip and stop micro managing.. Which he needs to do anyway, no matter who is hired or not hired...

By destined to lose 2 or 3 games, I meant that we aren't even close to beating Alabama, so there's 2 losses( reg season and SEC Ch) . Even though it is possible we could beat Oklahoma in the Sugar Bowl, that is probably the 3rd loss. So.....destined to lose 2 or 3 if we played our best.I don't believe destiny had anything to do with it. There wasn't a single game where the team looked prepared to play at the start of the 1st quarter. That's all on how Jones is running the team from top to bottom.
Yep, and Saban lost to a 2-5 and a 0-6 Northwestern team while at Mich St. In 1991, Saban's Mich St. team lost to Nebraska by 41 points. Nebraska was shut out 2 weeks later by Arizona St.He also lost to App st!! And would have lost again this year if they would have had a kicker!!!
Because they are averaging 13.5 ppg against Alabama and 22.5 ppg against FL in 4 seasons.
Feasting on the back half of the schedule and padding stats against lesser opponents is all well and good but figuring out how to perform better against our major rivals should be the goal at this point.

Going forward with the best team CBJ has had at UT and "the year" in 2016, this is what troubles me the most about our current philosophy, style, preparation, etc.
my only problem with the offense this year (maybe last year too) it seems like first down is do or die. If we get a false start/holding penalty or dropped for a loss of more than 2 yards we may as well punt and the next down. I don't know if that's scheme related or not but it seemed like we very rarely recover from making a mental mistake on 1st down.
