who's predicting a double digit win over UF

Barring injuries at LB or CB, it won't be hard for us to be better, considering our offense will have a pulse again.

QB is not a wild card. Del Rio can play...insiders I know say he would have won the starting job had he been eligible last season. Take that for what it's worth. All I know is he's better than Treon Harris.

Del Rio, isn't he the QB that hasn't played in a while?

Any shortcomings from McElwain's recruiting efforts won't surface for another 1-2 years. I agree he needs to step his game up, especially on the defensive side of the ball.

That said, I concur with 99 that our roster this year will be much better offensively than last, and our defense will be a downgrade from elite to merely excellent.

My concern is what we bring to the table defensively after this season.

You're a good Florida poster Lawrence.

Thank goodness florida has started their slide and will once again be the third or 4th best team in the state of florida.

florida was lucky to beat lowly fau in overtime last year.

True. But they still beat us and played in the SECCG after surprisingly winning the East in CJM's first season.

You guys are certainly entitled to talk smack to the Florida guys, but for the life of me I don't understand why you would. They've won 11 straight and have dominated the series since the year before Johnny Majors became our head coach. I got no problem talking smack to a rival fan....I just typically don't do it til I have a leg to stand on, and right now, neither I nor any other Vol fan does. Jmo.

This is all true... but if I was to ask you which SEC match-up has produced the most games decided by 3 points or less in the last 20 years what would you say?

Honestly don't know. I'd guess there's been 5 or 6 games off the top of my head decided 3 Pts or less the last 20 games. And I have no idea about other matchups like Alabama-Auburn, OleMiss-MissSt, Florida-Georgia, etc. to be able to compare.

All that being said, when one team wins 11 straight and 24 of 30 games, they've dominated the series regardless of the scores IMHO.

There have been 7 games decided by 3 points or less in the last 20 years of the Tennessee vs Florida series ('98, '99, '01, '04, '06, '14, '15) and that is the most of any other SEC series. Yes, they win most of these games but when we are any good at all, these games are very competitive and usually involve a 4th quarter comeback.

past games have no relation to this game---this is a new season. Tennessee has a lot more talent and is playing at home. The streak comes to an end---bet the house!

If you guys don't sign about 4 quality DT's in this class then it will be rough sledding against the run in 2017.

Agree with everything you said. But that wasn't the point of my post. Was correcting another poster who was wrong about when McElwain got to UF and when Butch got to UT...and which recruiting classes they were initially responsible for.

Oh I know, I was just adding to the conversation a little.

This is where people have gone nuts.

Florida's class in 2015 was subpar except for 2 players. I assume you mean Jefferson and Ivey.

However, just to use one guy as an example, that does not include Callaway....the best damn skill player florida has had since harvin.

You guys get stuck on rankings and need to pay attention to what's going on.

Man, you sound like a Kentucky fan. They aren't all "diamonds in the rough". You can point to Callaway all you want, but every team has those few lower rated guys that end up being ballers.

It's a proven fact that those teams that recruit well, and have a higher star average win more games. There is no team that has won a national title since the BCS era that has not had at least TWO of their four classes ranked in the top 10 in the nation. Florida better make up ground this year in other words.

Double digit over Florida:eek:lol::eek:lol::eek:lol:Hell I watched last year's game yesterday, and with a 27-14 lead with under 5 minutes remaining , not only could we not maintain the double digit lead, we could not even pull out the victory. You could see it in the Florida fans and players, despite the UT lead, they just knew they were going to win....It's mental now.:cray: I'll be happy if we can just win...even by a point.

After our TD to go up 27-14, maybe the fans that didn't leave had confidence and as for the ones that stayed they went bananas after the 4th and 14.

28-10 sounds good to me.

Their fans nor their players expected to win that game and it was written all over their faces in the fourth quarter as they watched with the same bewilderment that we did.
