I don't disagree. I still think the 2001 Canes were good enough on defense to keep it close with the Lions for at least a quarter.

Just realized from 1991 to 1997 Tom Osbourne went to all BCS bowls.

edit: it seems like in 25 years, he lead the Huskers to 19 BCS bowls... D**N!!!

Before you give him too much credit, remember that was shortly after his personal executioner, Barry Switzer, left college football. Nebraska had the Big 8/12 to themselves for a few years.

Yeah but still, 7 is outstanding... As soon as he left, Nebraska had a big drop off in the next 2 years. 19 out of 25 is still impressive.

Do you really think the 2004 Trojans would destroy this years OSU team? Trojans were great in the title game but I don't think they were as good over the course of the season.

edit: then again, every team has some close regular season games against some mediocre team. It just always seems to happen.

Except for Nebraska in 1995, both Miami and USC had scares.

I think a better assessment could be made after the game tomorrow night. We'll see how good that offense really is.

Yes. The result wouldn't be any different than the Orange Bowl that year. This OSU team isn't any better than that OU team.

I have to disagree there... I can certainly understand you saying USC would beat OSU, even by a big margin, but I think this year's OSU is definitely better than OU in 2004... Just my opinion.

Look at the guys in the NFL now off that OU team, then add Adrian Peterson to the list. Getting annihilated in the Orange Bowl has obscured how good that team was.

I'd say OU had the better RB and WRs. OSU probably has a better defense.

WR's were very close. OSU does have the better defense, and I think OSU has a better QB as well. I would take OSU over that Oklahoma team, 31-24, or something close...

But the thing is, I can't see a Tressel team playing like that in a major bowl game.

As good as USC was, I don't think Oklahoma played their best game, and I'm confident a Tressel team would have been as good as they could be. (which may not be good enough.)

Osbourne was 13-13 against OU. (5-12 vs. Switzer, 8-1 vs Gary Gibbs, Howard Schnellenberger and John Blake)....or something like that.

Three wide receivers from that OU team are starting in the NFL. I don't think OSU will be able to say that in a few years.

Hat, who are the guys from OU's defense that are in the NFL? I remember the safety Poole, CB Antonio Perkins, and DL Dan Cody. Are there some others?
