IF we were to fire Dooley, who in their right mind would want to come coach at UT?
Think about it... UT had a hard time getting someone to come in after Kiffin left because they knew they were coming in to a situation where they were basically going to have nothing to show from the 3 previous recruiting classes. Yet, we were able to get Dooley who has done a great job bringing in QUALITY recruits and was coaching with his hands tied behind his back the last 2 years with basically a high school team going against SEC level programs.
So, this is really the first year Dooley has had any chance of playing at an SEC level. We have lost to the #1, #2, #11 and #12 ranked teams in the nation and yet some of our fan base is wanting to fire Dooley. And we play the #7 team next weekend. We shouldn't have even been in any of those games yet he actually had us in a position to win 3 of those games. So, some want him fired.
Yeah, that's a job I would want to leave a solid program for. Petrino might be the only real option we could get and he is another Kiffin. You can go back to his days at Louisville when he went behind backs to flirt with Auburn.
Who would want a coach that would leave his team in the middle of the night and middle of the season and leaves a note for his players saying bye? At least Kiffin had the balls to tell the team he was leaving.
Sorry folks. It would be a mistake to let Dooley go at this time. He needs to be given at least one more year in order for us to have a legitimate chance at landing a decent coach IF Dooley doesn't produce. If you are going to build a program the right way, it will take time. Be patient.
No decent coach will come into an unreasonable position like UT is in right now. And if we can't get a home run then our program will be set back 1 -2 years and we will be in the same position in 2 years wanting to fire our coach again.
Be reasonable about your expectations. We won't be able to get the coach we would want at this time and with our recent history and already bailing on a quality coach doesn't make UT look like a very attractive option to a coach that would be a home run.
