So a program with the money, facilities, resources and a talented roster still isn't attractive to someone? I'm not buying this. What can you substantiate your claim with? What search firm has been hired? Who is it? The interest in UT just isn't that "warm"? lol. UT is in a great position to win and win big! Totally different situation than 2012. Dooley had depleted the program so far and there was ZERO recruiting. Plus the NCAA was sniffing around some due to all the basketball chaos. UT seemed way too toxic in 2012, even after Dooley had "cleaned it up" after Kiffin..........
oh, i didn't get that at all from his post. i think that's something we need to remember here. this is an attractive job. you have everything you need here to win at, and compete at, a championship level.
i think there's a natural anxiety that exists, especially now that FL is looking, that we can't compete with them and that their job is THAT much better than ours.
and you can make a couple arguments that says it is. but i don't think that gap is so great that we couldn't, or shouldn't, compete with them for the same type of a coach. the biggest advantage they have is the recruiting base...it just is what it is. but even that hasn't prevented TN from recruiting at a very high level.
but we have better facilities. money, resources, fan base, overall tradition, stadium, etc...all fairly equal.
and i'd argue that the immediate future for TN could be viewed better than FL's. they have some basic, fundamental cultural issues in that program that need to be fixed. we don't have the same level issues they do right now.
the emotional reaction is what it is...but if you think it thru a little bit, if our boosters and admin will decide to make "will it help us win?" the driving force behind the decision making, a lot of other things will fall in line accordingly.
