I heard that kenny o'neal couldn't run half of the plays. Like a 5 yard slant.

Darius Myers
Romone Johnson
EJ Abrams-Ward
About 15 walk-ons
Preston Bailey quit

I'm sure there will be more to come---Lane K and Monte K aren't going to put up with anything this year. Players better produce or hit the road!

LWS vol has been hinting for weeks that we will lose a few more before the season starts. I just hope no more OL. Myers, Johnson, and Bailey really hurt us as far as OL goes. All 3 could have started next season and had 2nd string duty this season. Johnson would probably have been a starting tackle this season. Due to those 3 being off the team and like 5 OL graduating this year...we have to recruit atleast 6 OL this year. 2 will be juco's i imagine

I agree, any more losses to our already thin OL would be borderline catastrophic at this point.

Can someone tell me again why they were kicked off? I know some of the walk-ons were kicked off for being late to am practices....

Kenny O'Neal was booted before the beginning of last season so his release was done during the Fulmer era. Its a shame too because I thought the kid had a lot of potential... Decent height/size and blazing speed, would have fit nicely into Kiffins system IMO. Some of the kids that have been kicked out since are for academic reasons, some have had toughness issues, and I believe there has been at least one with a disciplinary issue. This is just a weeding out process that many expected, I wouldnt worry too much. :zeitung_lesen:

Actually this is the reason some where released! A little too much weeding and not enough working.

Why did Bailey leave?

No one I've read knows for sure.

If I had to guess, I'd say it was some sort of personal problem or he just couldn't conform to the coaching style.

Someone mentioned that he could return so that raises the suspicion in my mind that it might not be football related.

Did someone say it was a mistake? I must have missed it.

What I and others have said is that UT is dangerously thin at OL coming into this season AND that it will be even tougher next year when the only 4 experienced OL's are gone.

Rather than get into a protracted argument with you like I have others, I'd just invite you to go to Rivals or UTSports and look at UT's OL returnees. There are only 11 scholarship players (assuming Shaw is still on the team and Sawtelle plays coming off double shoulder surgery) and 4 of them are centers.

Mistake? I hope not. Problem? Yes.

When asked about this recruiting class, the only negative Kiffin mentioned was that he did not sign more offensive linemen. He'll be working hard on that for the next class.

...or even guys with apulse. to be fair though the old staff had commits from phillips and foster to go with revis and schofield. rightly or wrongly some of the guys who are gone would also still be there.

i'm definitely not arguing with clk's new std only pointing out that the roster wouldn't be so thin.
